    Not sure how many HMMWVs you indicate are in civilian ownership. I know that approximately 12,000+ H1 were sold. The 1999 auctions. were less than 1000, I think. Add on the few that have been salvaged, assembled, etc say 14,000 is my guess. Not counting fire, police, forestry, etc. I await...

    OK my opinion. The hardtop/slantbacks are very popular and many of the M998 from 1999 auction have been converted. Think about restoring your HMMWV as it sits and was used by the military. This would be the low cost way to go and would be, hopefully collectible at some point. As I indicated...

    Looks pretty nice. Drive a hardtop before you invest. The visibility is much better out of the one you just bought. Be prepared to spend a few thousand on the project...I know!

    New tires and wheels today on M1008. Decided to go with OEM GF Goodrich LT235/85 R16. Looks and rides better!

    Voltmeter reads dead center

    I agree these are old gauges. Have the same reading on M998 but all voltages were within range. So check voltage and if ok live with it or order a new gauge which I did and have yet to install.
