I really like the Rhino carrier. Well made and sturdy.. It is easy to operate and installs with 6 machine screws and lock nuts which came with the carrier and good instructions. Only challenge was getting 2 of the holes in bumper mounts to line up. Rat tail file to the rescue! I got mine...
Nicely done! I bet you have more invested in airlift bumper and Rhino tire carrier than M1101! I just did installation of Rhino; was quick and easy on my old H1. I waiting for someone to steal the neat wrench. May need to put lock on it
I had the same thing happen on M998. With good light and a stick with duct tape I was able to retrieve it. Don't know where you dropped it but it still could be in the battery box. Good luck
Wow! I didn't know there were many still running the magnesium runflats. It speaks well of the design that they work in noncombat situations. I have 2 sets that I have removed from HMMWVs and plan to use on M1101/2 trailers.
Be sure and replace the rubber weather stripping inside and out. It seems most of the M1009 have vertical scratches on the rear glass from worn strips and/or attaching clips.
I agree. It is the tow vehicle that is the issue. Probably not much of an issue except in registering. In Texas trailers over 4000 lbs gross are titled and those with lower gross don't require a title which saves a few dollars. I prefer to title mine whether M110 1or M1102. It is fun...
As I posted on another thread, I started with a complete, running M998. I passed the 10,000 mark pretty fast doing almost all of the work myself with some help. For example, figure 800.00 to 1,000 for new wheel and radial tireson the surplus market. A decent airlift bumper with brackets...
Just a thought, if you have title you might want to consider buying one of the HMMWVs , nonrunning, that are becoming available as a source for parts. I think the cost would be less than buying one part at a time...I know. I am not offering any legal advice just a practical way to get the parts...
Glad you made it home safely. Do you hire out for adventures or is this just a hobby thing...only kidding. would like to see your new toys sometime. Be sure to enter them in the car show at the Rim in SA. Bob
I am not an expert and learned from SS site. The card is easy to install. The housing was zip tied to the left side of steering column. The end cap needs to be carefully pried off. Batteries should be disconnected before doing anything electrical anywhere on these trucks! I pulled the old...
After starting the glow plugs will cycle or heat up again a few times. If you watch the voltmeter you will see the needle swing to the left and you may hear the relay. On my other vehicles it will do it 2or 3 times but not for a minute or longer. I believe the TM says up to 25 seconds on the...
Installed glow plug card From "Antenna Climber" which cured the constant cycling after starting for over a minute and wait light not always coming on when cold. Will probably order another card for M1009.
OK, so we have been charged the diesel tax on a cucv, a trailer, a generator... what next? This company has been selling this stuff for years! Again, check your invoices!
Gov Planet fees:buyers premium, diesel tax, state sales tax, county sales tax, city sales tax, title fee, wire transfer fee. Add 20%+ to your bid (in Texas) Diesel tax was an error.
On latest CUCV purchase Gov Planet added 2% diesel charge (Texas) I called them and sited TXDOT site and that it only applies to vehicles over 14,000 lbs. The site lists many examples. Gov Planet said they would refund tax. So check your invoices!
