Fair price for having a radiator recored

I took my radiator into the shop the other day and they said it was too far gone for patching and would need a new core. They said it would run $430 and should come with a lifetime warranty. This seems a little high to me considering a brand new radiator is $550. Has anyone else had theirs...

Is this the right oil filter for a M38A1

It looks pretty much the same as a civilian filter to me but the guy on one of the parts websites insisted that there is a difference. Does anybody know what the difference is?

Is this the right oil filter for a M38A1

I have been told that there is a difference between Cj3B and M38A1 oil filter assemblies so I just want to be extra careful. Is this the correct oil filter assembly for my 52 M38A1? Thanks

    Trany questions

Sorry, I never really advanced past that middle school maturity level. Maybe one day there will be hope for me.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

This post previously held a stupid question but I can not figure out how to delete the post so I have just edited it to get rid of my stupid question.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I was going to go with the historic tags but it was not much more money and I plan on driving the jeep to places other than car shows so I went with the regular plates.

    Leaking Carburetor M38a1

To clear things up both the carb and radiator are leaking, that sentence sounded better in my head. Do I need to clean anything out of the carb or should it be fine if a just add an in-line filter?

    Leaking Carburetor M38a1

I went out to warm up the new jeep and when the choke was on the carb was dripping a pretty steady stream of gas. Fairly quickly after I turned it off the gas stopped. Any ideas on what this is? Between that and the radiator leaking like a sieve, I had a pretty good puddle going in the driveway.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I have noticed the old man magnet aspect of the jeep, fortunately most of them have good stories. I went with state farm on my insurance because I was too young for the JC Taylor, they did $75 per 6 months with a $50 deductible so I was pretty pleased with that.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I will check out both of them tomorrow. I had a quote from gulfway on a deuce that I ended up not getting. I can't really find any reviews on them so I don't know how reliable they would be if I needed a claim.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I figured since it is all copper they may be able to fix it. It was great driving it around town but I had to be somewhat low key because it is not registered or insured yet. I have only had it for one day and I have already had at least a dozen people come up to talk to me about it. A few guys...

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

It has a lot of dents that need to be fixed and at least one of the fenders will need to be replaced but it is solid and has practically no rust. I took it out cruising last night until it got hot because of the leaking radiator and we pushed it back into the garage with a police escort...

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

Yes it is a'53. You don't know what a pastie is? You have to get around. They are huge in the UP. It is a pastry that is filled with meat, potatoes and vegetables and usually enjoyed with ketchup or gravy. You can't swing a dead cat around in the UP without hitting a little pastie shop...

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

Everything went as planned and there is now a new M38A1 in the garage! As promised here are some pictures of the journey. We did a total of 1130 miles starting yesterday at 2pm, it was quite a trip.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I will bring a camera with me and post all of the recovery pics. T-25 hours until departure. I am graduating with my undergrad degree tonight so this jeep is my graduation present to myself.

Yet another M38A1 in my sights

I am towing it on a trailer because it is a pretty long drive. It is a soft top so I will make sure to take it off.
