New Guy from Ohio with 1985 m1008

My fiance's entire family is from Ohio so we always are sure to give each other a hard time. You can't beat the big great lakes (superior, huron, and michigan). There is nothing quite as nice as sailing by the sand dunes while the sun dips below the horizon across lake michigan or crossing...

Welcome to the site. Hopefully you can get the '08 running soon, I loved my CUCV. Sorry to hear you are from Ohio, not every state can have mountains or beaches or lakes.

    Completed 2200 mile Deuce Recovery

200 gallons of diesel! Talk about bending over and taking it from the petroleum companies. Props on the recovery though. That's the way it should be done, none of this trailering stuff.

    M35A2 Insurance question

Well at least that is only one more year. I got a quote from Gulfway last year when I was 21 for $180 a year at michigan state minimums. So at least when you turn 21 it should be pretty cheap. In the mean time you should utilize the stealth of the camouflage, if the police can't see you they...

Napa part numbers dont cross reference

Just use their catalog to look up the part for the civilian version. Unless the part has something to do with the electrical system than in will be the same in the civy and military versions.

    Looking at a M38a1 Today

I am going to look at a '52 M38a1 today. The body is pretty rough and someone has added a roll bar and brush guard, I am guessing that it was a fire department at some point in its life. It runs and drives and I believe that it has the original drivetrain. I have had some dealings with CJs...

How to get into Military Jeeps

Zout - How many of the parts on the a1 can be swapped with the CJ5, I have a good source of jeep parts at very good prices but he has mostly civilian stuff. I had a CUCV so i was spoiled by having all the parts at the local o'reilys no questions asked.
