Will a humvee transmission swap into a CUCV?

Yeah, I think it's a mishmash. I don't take the condition codes at face value. Some look like they were just pulled. Others look rebuilt or at least very well maintained. As far as not having a park position... what would that mean for putting one of these in a CUCV? Would putting the...

    Alternator, voltage regulator question

Nope. I just turned it again by hand. It doesn't turn rough, really. Somewhat smooth but with a faint clickety noise. Only black stuff I see is inside. Powder. I'm guess it's dust from the brushes. Brushes themselves look like they have alot of life left.

    Alternator, voltage regulator question

Hm, that's not a great sign. When I spin it by hand, it definitely doesn't feel smooth like it probably should. Maybe I should track down replacement bearings as well? I'll see if I can get the rest apart and get the bearings off tonight. Only other motor type stuff I've serviced is my...

Will a humvee transmission swap into a CUCV?

I won a couple of lots of pulled transmissions out of OKC. My thinking was that I'd keep one and sell the rest, on the off-chance I come across a CUCV for sale, cheap, with a bad transmission and engine. Something I can get cheap and put some time in restoring and learning the vehicle. Here's...

    Alternator, voltage regulator question

I bought a NOS voltage regulator from a guy on ebay. Regulator looks new, appears to be the correct part. At least, it did until I got inside the alternator and saw the old voltage regulator. They look VERY similar. But the new one has 4 spade pins sticking out of the potting versus the...

New drop hitch I fabbed using mostly repurposed steel.

Nice hitch. Nice pet bear, too.

    CTIS question

Other than the lights flashing on the control panel, what's wrong with the CTIS on your truck?

    CTIS question

From the CTIS troubleshooting guide, pgs 13-14: 5 Flashing LIGHTs Code No. Causes (numbered in order of likely occurrence) Low Pressure 26, 27 CHANNEL PRESSURE LOSS (Channel only checks pressures): Pressure check of given channel returns low reading (< 5 psig) indicating an extreme loss of...

Problem with Allison transmission. Is there any Allison experts out there?

That button controls the solenoid that blocks/allows air to the interlock valve on the transfer case. All that does is keep the lever from slipping out of the selected position during operation.

Just won M923A2 from GL, now what?

Driver's side of engine, near the front, is a line going to a nut on the side. loosen the nut on it. Same side of the engine near the rear, kind of low and angled up (stand on the tire to reach it) is a rubber button. That is the manual priming pump. Pump it until fuel squirts out around...

    M939 Transfercase shifting

Great thread. I think this is what is wrong with my 923a2 t-case shifting problem. I've noticed that when I turn the engine off and let the air out of the system a few pounds at a time, it gets progressively easier to operate the transfer case lever. Also, with the engine off, air system...

lost the button from the hydraulic head

Dang, and you were the one I thought I heard that from too.

lost the button from the hydraulic head

Don't quote me on this, but I believe the MEP-002 and 003 use the same PSB injection pump as an LDT-465 If that's the case, might be a good way to scavenge one from a dead generator set.

lost the button from the hydraulic head

That injection pump is in alot of stuff, isn't it? I asked the guy something along the lines of "have they stopped making them?" and he said "I don't think so. At least, there's no note to not re-order." Anyways, with a little creativity you could probably fab a decent replacement for that...

lost the button from the hydraulic head

They didn't even have 12 left. I asked for 3 and he just said he'd put them in an envelope and mail them to me, no charge.

lost the button from the hydraulic head

Do you happen to have the part numbers for those o-rings? I'm going to see if I can order a couple of the plunger button retaining rings probably tomorrow. Might as well get the o-rings, too.

lost the button from the hydraulic head

I recall that the big O-ring went right under the pump head. What did we take the little o-ring off of, tho? Was it just those two o-rings? Haven't called ambac yet.

    Is my alternator dead? 923A2

Good info. Thanks. The tests on the pages 16 through 19 are basically what I did. Makes me think there's a broken wire in/on the alternator itself.

    Is my alternator dead? 923A2

I don't know that the regulator is the problem, but thanks for the link. I guess I'll ask around to see if anyone can test a 24V alternator.

    Is my alternator dead? 923A2

I picked up a truck without an alternator. That is to say, I had someone pick one up for me, and bought a pulled alternator from another truck they picked up. It's kind of hard to tell from the TM whether I hooked it up correctly, tho. The diagram on 3-229 simply doesn't say which wires go...
