Saw in the TM how to go about adjusting voltage. So I removed the plug per the TM. But with the alternator installed, I cannot see down into the well to tell what type of screw it is. And the TM does not say. It just says turn the screw CCW to increase voltage or CW to decrease voltage...
Hm... it IS a little bit different, but it should work.
Came in a box labelled "Newstar S - 5676. Replacement for : 229617 229635 KN-20001"
Looks like a cast Zamak alloy body. The adapter nut in back is steel.
Haven't taken it apart yet, but it looks like there's a second spring in...
Yeah, I removed the fitting. I never saw a washer or disc like yall are describing. Either in the fitting or in the body. I'll bet that's my issue.
I ordered an NOS from a guy on ebay. When it gets here I'll see what that piece looks like. Maybe I can take a hardware store washer that...
I must have an older version or something.
When I take mine apart, there's literally just a pison with a single o-ring on it and a tapered spring. No second o-ring or disc with rubber backing. I'm not even sure where the second o-ring would go. There's only one o-ring groove on the piston.
I haven't been able to find an actual military switch anywhere aside from as part of a complete NOS air conversion kit.
Could I trouble you for some nomenclature so I can look it up on NAPA? Until you mentioned that, I was thinking I'd have to go to home depot and just try to find some kind...
The problem item is the front axle engagement switch on the dash. I've got one that just keeps hissing air out both side holes and through the front (around the lever).
I've taken it apart and cleaned both the piston and the valve body and replaced the o-ring on the piston. Still, no joy...
You should probably take extra care to use correct spelling when you're criticizing someone else's grammar.
A capitol is a place where government meets. Capitals are upper-case letters. Or possibly types of warships depending on how many world wars you lived through. Capital might also be...
Found the adapter! Now I just need the hose.
Yeah, it's kind of as I remember it. It's just a brass threaded adapter. You could make one in no time out of a piece of brass roundstock.
Where can I find just the hose adapter that goes into the back of the front axle engagement valve?
On the -20P it's listed as:
Cage code: 08752
P/N:443977
NIPPLE,PIPE PART OF KIT P/N 5704132
Or failing that, a drawing of one with dimensions? Seems like something I could turn on a lathe...
I think he's talking about the light/buzzer controlled by failsafe warning control module.
If so, its almost guaranteed to be a bad failsafe warning control module. They're notorious.
A solenoid operated air valve? Yeah, I guess that would be the easiest way to go about it.
If you wanted it to be automatic, you could install a thermostat to output open/close signals to the coil on the solenoid, too.
I'm not sure where you'd install it without drilling new holes, tho...
They're in a bracket right there at the clutch. Installed in threaded holes. Talks about installing them in the Operator's TM (not in the maintenance TM)
Question: Is there a good reason not to just install the override bolts and replace the actuator valve with a straight through fitting?
I think the fan clutch actuator valve on my 923A0 is bad. Fan runs all the time, but the override bolts are not installed on the clutch.
The operator's TM...
Test paint one of the flappy corners and drive around with it unsecured for awhile. See how well it holds up to alot of movement. If it does ok, paint the rest.
Ran the engine for about 45 or 50 minutes. Got the engine up to about 160F
Alternator was only charging at 23.9. So there's another issue. But I did clean the batt terminals, put dialectric grease on them, then tightened the cables down. Also, got the three little wires hooked up...
Thank you for reminding me. That is one thing I kind of want to try. Just because it is easy. And I like easy.
It's been getting up in the low 90s here the past couple of days, so I don't think the could has anything to do with it, but still...
