    Very Modified Deuce

That leaf spring stack in the front is interesting. Is that mostly to help support the engine and/or dampen the front end?

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

I found a somewhat detailed wiring diagram for the entire truck in apendix H of the -24 manual but it's hard to follow on screen. Resolution is quite low. Volume 5 of the -23 (the 2012 updated version) has the same but with higher resolution. Unfortunately... it doesn't show what's INSIDE...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

I took my FWCM off, sanded down the copper grounding terminal and the sidewall of the cab and reinstalled it. And I was immediately able to get the low air buzzer to sound... but not the light. So I taped together the leads that normally go to the air pressure switches to shut off the low...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Since you have some FWCMs already taken off the truck, do you think you could open one up and take a few pictures of the inside for us?

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Have you taken any of your FWCM's apart? I'm wondering how user serviceable they are. The -24 does describe a little bit of multi-meter diagnostic involving the module. eta: Here's how the system COULD work, and it could explain why some things are working when others are not. All...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Thanks, sounds like artisan had the same issue as myself. http://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?105024-Failsafe-Warning-Control-Module-Plug-Repair-Help&highlight=low+air+buzzer I'm going to start by cleaning and re-seating every ground I can find.

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

With the tanks pressurized, each switch measures about 0.7 ohms resistance across the contacts. With the tanks drained, open or infinite. Which seems reasonable to me... Buzzer worked briefly while I was testing this time then inexplicably turned off again. I'm at a loss.

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Thanks, but those appear to be the same manuals from 1998 I've been reading. Looking again did give me a good reference for testing the switches themselves, tho. In the "activated" position (system at normal pressure), the resistance across the switch should be 300 ohms or less. Granted, the...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Had a minute, so I went out and tried something: Disconnected the lead from air switch one that comes from the cab and disconnected the lead from air switch 2 that goes to the frame. Situation, circuit is open and the air switches are completely disconnected. Went around to the cab, flipped...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

I did briefly try to skip one of the switches but I was getting overheated and eaten up by mosquitoes so I didn't give it a fair chance. Didn't take my DMM out with me, but I will do that tomorrow evening. You're talking about putting one lead of the DMM on the truck frame and then testing...

Low air pressure light/buzzer inop on M923

Low air pressure warning light won't come on. Buzzer won't sound. Unfortunately, 9-2320-272-24-1 only talks about what to do if the buzzer and light won't turn off. I've checked the connections at the two air pressure switches on the primary and secondary tanks and they are hooked up...

Could an NHC-250 be made to run on nat gas/diesel combo?

What is it that kills the engine? Too much NG too fast?

Could an NHC-250 be made to run on nat gas/diesel combo?

I don't know. I'd only ever heard that it was being done to some diesel engines. What I was thinking of... will the natural gas change the readiness of the diesel to ignite under pressure? IE, could it retard combustion? Or would it advance combustion? Or no change at all? If there's...

Could an NHC-250 be made to run on nat gas/diesel combo?

Like the bi-fuel operation caterpiller engines I hear about? Just trying to think outside the box. Natural gas is still pretty cheap, I think.

Picking M931A2 up from auction. Change oil before driving?

Don't forget 10W oil for the power steering, just in case it's low.

How are you Texas members getting licensed to drive 5 tons?

I've never heard of that one trip for personal property per year thing... Sounds like he made it up to take it easy on you. I mean really, what it boils down to from the State's perspective on that question is "You aren't. Or you can register that 818 as a normal, non-FMV truck and pay 300...

How are you Texas members getting licensed to drive 5 tons?

What do they define as commercial use? Does hauling your own property around count? Or do you have to be getting renumeration from someone else for it? I might at some point want to use my 5 ton to pick up another milsurp vehicle.

How are you Texas members getting licensed to drive 5 tons?

Hadn't considered the insurance aspect, but I don't recall being asked if I had one the last few quotes I requested.

How are you Texas members getting licensed to drive 5 tons?

Just got a M923. Headed over to the local DPS office to investigate getting a class A non-CDL (because I might want to use it to tow or haul another vehicle to shows) and was told "sorry, it doesn't meet any of the exemptions on this form. You can't have one." So after explaining what I...

    Rod knock

Jesse, was yours idling at 550 or 600 previously? I've never been able to get mine to idle below 700.
