weight on Deuce and a half

My A3 without winch tipped the scales at 14,100 without driver and full fuel load. Had to get a weight ticket to register it in Cali. Had to be violated in the rear ($$) for the weight fee because an A3 is too new to be registered as a 'hysterical' vehicle.

Can a Deuce to tow a Deuce on a trailer without a CDL ? Yes.

The law for California is pretty clear on this. A 'B' class CDL minimum is required if towing a trailer or other vehicle at 10,001 lbs.

    CTIS Theory questions.

    1. They communicated ONCE via their email and never replied since 2. If I execute an NDA, I cannot help other people troubleshoot their CTIS. That defeats the stated purpose of my reason for contacting them 3. NDAs are dangerous things. Clearly you've never sued or been the party to a suit...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Agree with mktopside Very unusual and there is either something simple being overlooked, like fluid level or there were problems before draining. Something doesn't add up. BTW - I really enjoyed the Tokyo quake. The Narita Rollercoaster! Aftershocks every couple of minutes in the magnitude 6...

    M35A3 Power/Tranny? issues

The clue is white smoke. If there was a tranny problem, and the engine was laboring, you'd see black smoke from the loading. White smoke suggests either a fuel or head gasket issue. Only really seeing the white smoke (volume, smell, how it disspates, etc.) can one tell. I'd check for loose...

Rifle Holder in an M35? That's what Soldier 'B' is for  Also holds my coffee as a stabilized platform - no spills with driving thrills.

    M35A3 Transmision question.

If your filter wasn't tight, you'd be bleeding red stuff, not sucking air. The system is positive pressure and the mess would point to a major leak that would be responsible for the system pressure loss and misoperation. On top of that, you'd bleed out and even more fun as the tranny goes full...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

As I recall, TM says refill is 9qts. Most of the fluid is still in the torque converter and cooler/lines/ext filter. My migration from 10w40 to DexIII was around 8-9 qt drain and then when refilling, once I started it up, it took a lot of fluid to top up to 'full' from the 'full' indicated...

    M35A3 Transmision question.

Sounds like trapped air in the valve body. Is it really cold where you are? To properly get things refilled after a change, the fluid needs to flow like water. You may need to let it sit and idle for a good long while to bring the temp up if the ambient temps are really low to get the fluid...

    CTIS Theory questions.

Gee, there are aircraft in inventory that are over 50 years old that still work fine, well beyond the design service life. We can really laugh about some of the maintenance **not** done on airframes. I used to be in that business as a civilian for DoD and got the **** out over 20 years ago...

Uhh, I do this sort of activity for a living - my day job - and that's not how proprietary data is managed, thanks. My employer's attorneys would have us for dinner. I don't need a t shirt or a fun day hanging out with CM dudes. I am looking for a method to provide self help and assistance to...

    Pyle 24V to 12V converter

I have a Pyle PSWNV720 converter. You can and should connect the input negative and output negative to the vehicle negative. This way, you can use standard 12V car devices that expect negative ground without any problems.

    M35A3 Insurance in VA

I had problems with USAA backing out of a quote on a deuce, despite insuring 10 cars and a house with them never a claim in 35 years - they're A-holes. I found through this site Gulfway in FLA and they insured my Cali A3 at half the price of the USAA quote for full coverage. The only...

    A3 Transmission Fluid Questions

Agreed. These GM automatic transmissions are really manual transmission systems with a series of hydraulic servos and controls to implement the shift process. The working fluid for these systems, in addition to providing basic lubrication for the internal clutches and gear trains, has a...
