Concur. Also hinges (4) with fasteners, door strikes for soft doors, seat pads if missing. Should be easy project. Congrats on "fleet" Bet you won't stop with just 3! Original 2 point belts were hard to find. Three points are common.
Removed nasty floormats and jute backing that felt damp. Some rusty areas but no perforation! Will wire brush, apply Eastwoods rust converter, prime and paint. Will install minimal floor mats like in M1009 and hopefully avoid more rust. Found log book under seat but no useful information...
Okay, switched from 6TLs to Optimas based on advice of people thatknow more than I do. As I tightened the terminals which were a perfect fit on 6TLs they kept rising! No grease on posts. required quite a lot of torque. Are Optima posts smaller or more tapered? The red rubber covers made...
Charged the 6TLs, painted the rusty air filter housing, cleaned the filter wrap, removed the door signs fromdoors with heat gun and razor scraper, degreased rear differential ? seal, cleaned filler neck hose area that leaks. Floor mats tomorrow! I can't wait..
The new relay is mounted 90 degrees from the old one. That is it sticks up90 degrees from the plate. The old ones mount parallel to the plate. I know, no photos... Doghead relay still 12.00 at Oreillys. What a deal. Look in lawnmower section don't ask for help!
Did Doghead mod to M1008. Second time for me, Momentarily confused by new relay installed and old one still attached to mounting plate. Looked like the old one except had 55683-90-15591718 on label on the bottom of the unit. Is this an improved unit or just a replacement? DID doghead just...
Yes, I got the green M1008. Has new alternators, belts, hoses, and 6TLs. Fired right up no problems. Tightened belts on alternators and added 1/2 qt ATF and new wiper blades. Drove great at 65mph Has receiver hitch and wired for trailer brakes. Was bidding against 400 others so paid too...
I once had a Craftsman torquewrench go bad and I ended up with a broken stud. You might want to have yours checked. Harbor Freight sells an inexpensive electronic digital torque adaptor that will work.(It got an excellent review in one of the 4 whell drive magazines)
Just a heads up: There are some tow bar feet being advertised on -bay as HMMWV tow bar feet with no part numbers but pretty good pictures. I ordered a pair. They were for MRAPs. Returned them no problem and got refund. I sent the seller a copy of the Ibes Tek instructions which showed both...
Sure wish I had read this thread before buying Ibis Tek medium tow bar. Did not realize that getting the feet, biscuits would be such a hassle and expense!
Been having some battery issues on M998. Have been prying the black cover off of + terminal cover to check voltage. Each time figuring the red part of the cover was going to tear. Finally drilled .080 hole in black cover so multimeter probe would go through to terminal. Don't plan on fording...
Don't feel badly about the plug being 180 degrees out. I did the same installing trailer plug on M998 airlift bumper. Got some interesting trailer light combos! It's good to share our mistakes and be able to laugh(once the problem is solved)
