Did not use the lifting shackle plates because page 4 of instructions states that they are only to be used on M1114 series and that installing them on M990 series will prevent the hood from opening fully. Did I not understand or is this not correct. I've done one, Ted, and you've done many so...
The comment about Mil PM got me thinking about my company motor pool in RVN. If Blackmagic94 hasn't been in a motor he really should. It is not like a NASCAR pit in my experience. I wish him well and I hope he keeps us posted on the good and the bad.
Looked at GP website and they indicated that ether was required to start HMMWV. Did not think that was a good idea. Can't believe they posted that on inspection report.
Have 6TL batterys thatshow 25.5 V . With engine running show 28.5V at batterys and voltmeter barely in the green. With load, head lights on, still shows 28.5. Has jumped to 29 a few times. TM says voltmeter needle should be in middle of green at 28.5. My question is change voltmeter or just...
Thank you all for responses to my antenna location question. They explain why the rear holes have been plugged and the front ones have bolts in them. I will probably use the front location for ease of mounting. Doubt if I will go in the trees but front location makes sense. Great web site! Bob
Instructions are pretty straight forward, however it does not mention that the grill may hit the rear braces of the bumper when the hood is raised. If raised vigorously enough you might damage grill. To prevent this the hood prop rod needs to be shortened. I cut mine at the L shaped bend and...
OK. It's 12 volt with ford tail lights and ford escort steering column. Also usually way pimped-out, but it is the same size and weight of M998. Most of the public can't tell the difference especially if hit by one I would imagine!
At one time there were 12,000 H1s on the road and several hundred from the Atlanta auction plus a few salvage, etc. I haven't heard of any big law suits, etc from accidents. Has anyone else? Personally, I would be more worried about a 5 ton versus Prius than HMMWV versus Suburban, but I live...
Picked up 2 antenna mounts for M1009 yesterday. Can't decicde where to install. There a 4 holes behind passenger door and 4 holes on the back of each fender/quarter panel. Will just be for looks. Want to mount them where they will be the least hassle. Any suggestions appreciated. Some of the...
Just a question. Does anyone know of the Government reclaiming a 20-25 year old unarmored vehicle. I know it it's rule but how often does it happen.( I don't want to be the test case!)
My pintle riser from Northern is 1/2 inch plate with 8 inch gusset welded on the back. I use the set of holes leaving one set visible and this tows level behind my Tahoe. No problems but have not gone off road with this set up.
My
M1009 was pretty rust free except where the floor mats and jut backing held the moisture where seats were bolted in. I treated the rust with Eastwoods rust converter, primed and painted 383 green. I have decided to go with simple rubber mats in front that are easily removable if it...
I really appreciate the moderaters keeping this thread open. This the most exciting happening (for me) in the military vehicle hobby in my experience. Nothing has been this surprising to many in military vehicle group as evidenced by many of the posts here and on other sites. I think it will...
