Me in 1991 Iraq with my CUCV waiting in line, 8/101 Avn Rgmt, 101st Abn to load on C130s for transport to to forward base just before ground offensive. We painted the woodland cammo over with mud. Majority of CUCVs were painted with the mud slurry using a 30 gal trash can and broom.
I bought a M1009 that was like the one in our unit during Desert Storm. We had a M1008 too. Most of the CUCVs in Desert Storm were woodland cammo with a mix of desert mud slurry applied with a broom. So I elected to just redo the original cammo to keep it period correct. Plus I use it for...
I have a M1009 and daily drive it at 45 MPH. Seems happy at that speed. I do 60 when on on the expressway. I have taken it up to 85, but its milage and stability goes south.
When I was in the Army the M1008 would be screaming at 55, like all the tactical vehicles. We normally convoyed at 45...
I have been driving mine as a daily driver for almost a year. No problems. A few times the starter did not want to engage the first month and I ordered another starter. But by the time I received the starter, the problem went away. May have been because it was sitting for some time. Only the...
Thanks for sharing. This story just shows how dedicated our Nation Guard Troops are to getting the job done. I always looked forward to working with Guard and Reserve Troops when I was in the active Army. This is exactly why.
edpdx - My window became hard to roll up. Then my crank broke. Next, it will only come down about 6 inches and stops. Looks like I need to open the back and stick a new regulator in. Can you post a link to your experience on doing this job in this post? Tnx
Another attempt to place pics in so they show up right side up. Best about the between seat evaporator is my coffee cup keeps its spot. Also installation is a lot easier. The 4 vents can be pointed in any direction. All the controls are in the evaporator between the top 2 vents. Since its wired...
Installed the Nastalgic air conditioning kit for my m1009, but used a stand alone evaporator between the front seats so I could leave my dash stock. It puts out 1800 BTU instead of 1500 BTU. Picture is with the passenger seat full forward and the drivers seat full back.
I put the LMC harness in and just it alone did increase the brightness. Then I went and upgraded one side to the HG bulb and it looked like it doubled the output.
In the kit I have the parts look identical to the pictures in this posting on the pump installation.

I will start on installing my kit in the next few weeks. Before it gets to much warmer.
For right...
I was wondering if you could redo where the power cables for the original rear radio connect. I have a 12v inverter and figure it would be a good to put it in the center ammo can console. Also place a radio in it as well. That way it's all hidden when not in use.
