I'm with ya' brother- I'm back in the game with an M109 from Redstone Arsenal! The perfect truck to build a camper for two.

    Labor Day in ALA

Depending on how fast I heal from my hernia surgery, I think Margaret and I can whip the Cheetahmobile into good enough shape to drive over. Count me as a definite maybe.

Where are you staying for the 09 GA Rally

Margaret and I plan to "rough it" in the RV area if we get the Cheetahmobile in good enough condition to do so. Otherwise we'll just drive over for Saturday to hopefully meet the great and helpful folks of Steel Soldiers. I'd like to add that despite being new to this, y'all have certainly...

    Call me crazy but

Why... did... I... sell... it...? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Greed? Brain fart? Actually the buyer kind of caught me off guard. He was picking up his trailer from me and casually asked how much I'd take for the truck. Rather stupidly I gave him a price that was $1000 more than it cost me. He wrote me a...

    Call me crazy but

One of the reasons I bought a Deuce was "just in case". Just in case the Mayan Calendar is accurate (doubts exist as to how the MC correlates to the Gregorian), just in case standard fuel becomes hard to find, just in case the fault that runs through North Alabama becomes active, just in case...

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

From a layman's point of view it's longer, taller, more comfortable with auto transmission and power steering. The hood is hinged at the front so it opens like a double-barrel shotgun revealing that outstanding Caterpillar engine. Yeah- if I had $10K...:deadhorse:

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

I went and looked at an M928. NOW I see the difference!

    Vegoil destroys engines?

I picked up two 35 gal fuel tanks on GL and plan to use one of them for heated WVO (don't know what to do with the second one- anyone interested?). I've heard it's a good idea to start the Deuce on Diesel fuel, switch over to WVO and then switch back for the 5 minute shutdown period. Thoughts?

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

See? Now, this is why I'm mixed up. On GL they call a 2.5 ton truck that has a Cummings Diesel, the in-cab tire inflation system, automatic x-mission, power steering, the latest style of front clip and the "super singles" an M35A3. So that's really an M9xx series?

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

Being still new to this game, the M35A3 (not the A2) and this M928A2 look alot alike to me. They both have wheels n stuff and make alot of noise. :-D All I really wanted to know was about the wheelbase length. Is the M928A2 longer than the M35A3 :?: I'm not comparing them at all- not trying to...

    Difference between M928A2 and a M35A3?

Just browsing around and found what I thought was an M35A3, but is actually called an M928A2. The M928A2 looks longer and is 5 ton. Is that all there is to it :?:

    Grease...Green Grease

Anyone ever use one of those grease packing tools? It comes with a conical section inside a dish. You slide the race over the conical section, close the lid, then pump the grease through the race with an ordinary grease gun through a Xerxes fitting in the top. I have NEVER been able to pack...

Brake issue with the Deuce Please Help

Let me ask you this: Are you tightening the bleeder nipple before or after you let off the brake pedal? Probably a dumb Q on my part... The way I've always bled brakes is to get a clear, big glass or plastic jar, fill it halfway with brake fluid, attach a hose from the bleeder nipple and...

    Is it Illegal?

Call or go to the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) in your state. They will have the definitive answer. You can usually Google the DMV for your state and look up the reg on their website.

    Farewell to the Deuce

Some guy bought my last trailer last Saturday. Went over and looked at the Deuce. Asked me what I'd take for it. I quoted $1000 more than I paid for it. He wrote me a check right on the spot. What do I do about legalities of selling the deuce? Is there someone I should contact with the buyer's...

    My first M109A3

Welcome Sporkius! If it makes you feel any better, I bought a Deuce from Redstone Arsenal recently and have had very little trouble out of it. Most of the "trouble" was my unfamiliarity with the M35A2. Feel free to ask questions even if you feel they're dumb (guarantee they're not).

Everyone wants to drive the Deuce

Always wondered why certain people do not like cats. I like cats, dogs, horses, but not those "sock monkeys" you see at Cracker Barrel. They give me the creeps...:p I have a cat (Sunny) that became ours after almost dying from a snake bite under his right front "armpit". He does EVERYTHING...

    Mix 'n match wiper motors

You should be fine. As long as the seals inside the older motor are OK, they really don't care. I for one would like to see a picture or two once the installation is complete. I just ordered the replacement arms from Saturn and will change my old arms out this weekend. :-D
