I don't know if 30 degrees counts as cold, but one cycle of the glow plugs, turn to start with pedal halfway down, 3 seconds later she is running.... My buddy has a 2011 Ram 3500 Cummins, and he is jealous at how easy my M1009 is to start.
I know there has bee a rash of alternator posts lately, but none of them or the ones that I got on the search have been able to answer my question so here goes.
My voltmeter is reading right on the line between green and red, showing near an over charge condition. I pulled the battery cables...
I do get to see and do some really cool stuff, it is sad that the new techs do not get the training we used to. I don’t think my midgrade tech could tell me ohms law let alone explain it...
It is my pleasure to serve, no thanks is necessary but it is always appreciated.
Well I missed one, got the gouge on my leaking vacum lines messing up my shifting from here as well.
Luckily I saw a trend of people getting counseled on the virtues of the search function before I asked the question and got the wrath myself....
I live on a military base, I get looks from security as it is with the CUCV (still painted "for official use only). I would get arrested for a 5 ton...
I just wanted to take a minute and thank you all for the help and advice I have gotten the past month. I have owned my 1009 for a month now. This place has helped me tremendously.
I am an Aircraft electrician by trade, but Doghead and his ability to teach have helped me tremendously in...

Today I decided to double check him... bled of some fluid from right rear wheel cylinder, and mixed it with the DOT3...
It did have fluid, I only added about 1/4 inch to it, but have been driving it, so I will have to flush it and stand by to replace parts as they leak.... Thanks for all the responses.
Today was more fun... The vac lines to the tranny finally gave up and cracked, so i replaced them. Tranny now shifts great again. However while test driving it to verify proper shifting, i noticed a trickle of radiator fluid coming down the firewall...
Pulled the heater core and had 3 small...
I had not read as much as I should have and topped off my master cylinder with dot3. I have read about 20 threads now about which is better, and not to mix them. However I cant find what to do now. I am planning on just sucking out all the fluid from the reservoir, and filling with dot5 then...
Bypassed the 12 volt resistors and connected it to 12 volt bus.
Then....
I got it stuck in the mud! It is now home and dirty, but the mud will stay for a day as a badge of honor/ shame...
