Nothing comes to mind as far as a cheaper way to go to get larger tires.
As far as g741 being "THE" place, maybe we can make SteelSoldiers the new "THE" place. There are a few of us who no longer want to deal with some of the issues going on at G741.

Yes, they could be punched through, 1 1/4 inch hole, then chamfer. My hydraulic press isn't that big, it's easier for me to use my vertical mill. The angle on the chamfer is standard 82 degrees. If you need more dimensions give me a holler and I can talk you through it.

If you're talking about six hole rims from a Duece, no I'm afraid not. The hole layout would cut across a couple of the five hole pattern you would need to make and the center hole is much too large.
If you did come across the right old Chevy wheels you would have to have them offset bored...
?? Yes, the Dodge M37 uses a 5 hole Budd pattern?? There are no wheels other than what was made for the Dodge 5 hole hole Budd pattern that will fit. Period, no ifs, ands, or buts. These wheels are made from using the older Chevy 1 1/2 ton farm truck style wheels. I don't recall any of the...
You need to carefully log onto ebay and search for M37 20" tires and wheels. There you will find 4 available that are ready to mount to your M37 with no modifications to the truck whatsoever. In case you are wondering about the origin of these here to fore unknown wonders, there are about 150 of...
I have a post on the M37 portion that shows the adapters I make for the M37 variants and Power Wagons. I have the dimensions and can make a set for the M715 series bolt pattern. This would be the first and might take a few extra weeks as I machine the first and make any changes needed after beta...
The last one. The 8 bolts you see on the outer wheel diameter are there for pretty. I have experimented with different ideas and have even left them open. I like the bolts through the backside with nuts on the outside, it makes them resemble the older combat wheels. They will clear disc brake...
I've just shipped another set of adapter plates to a friend and fellow enthusiast out in California. I have another set just about ready to ship and thought I would offer them here on Soldiers. If anyone is interested please email me at

Yep, the shift down from first to second takes about ten yards of travel, and if it's cold, it feels like you're trying to move it through concrete. :) AB Linn has shift tops for the B1 series, I have bought one as a spare and they are nice. The early and late series M37 transmissions are...
I've owned just one Canadian model M37 and it was in sad, very sad shape. I parted it out and never opened up the transmission. At first I thought it was a standard m37 (read US) transmission but but after examining it a little closer figured it was something else. The hood was modified to have...
Hi folks, a lot of confusion on some posts as to whether or not second gear in US versions of the M37, M43 and their variants are synchro'd. They are not. The early 88 series in either military or civilian version were not synchro'd in second gear. The military and civilian versions of the NP...
Second gear in neither early series US M37's nor B1 series which uses the military version of the NP 420 are synchronized. I have never opened a Canadian version so I can't say from experience but have been told by those who have them that this Acme transmission is synchronized in second gear...
The axles that came in the M37 and M43's and their variants are corporate. There was no variation over the course of 18 years that the various trucks were produced. The only variation I have found was some brake shoes were riveted and some were glued, the glued were generally rebuilds from...
The easiest way for me to tell them apart is the large metal tab cast into the early style rear bearing and seal retainer at the output flange. This tab is about 2 inches tall and sticks out toward the drivers side about 3 inches. Thjis was to keep the reverse idler gear shaft in place. The NP...
I believe the pictures we use for our posts are avatars, I'm a lttle curious, Citizensoldier are you trying an "Oddball" impersonation by chance? If you're not familiar with "Oddball", please don't take it as an insult. It's a character from a movie from many years ago. I see Maddawg308 uses a...
Good point, I've never worked on the Canadian version transmission and have only ever owned just one. But I have rebuilt many US M37 transmissions both early and late and they aren't synchro'd in second. :D
The stick shift lever is B1, it has the added spring spacer on the correct side. Neither the early series M37 transmission nor the later B1 series military or civilian NP420 were synchronized in second. Only third and fourth gears had synchros. The bed has the lock tabs in the correct place. It...
The radiator being pushed forward is where the modification came from. To clear the radiator they soldered on an extension or end piece rather to the hood. A standard hood won't clear the radiator top tank. It may not be real noticeable to some folks though. And yes, they were made at the same...
