Didn't want to pay for a new shutter stat so I installed my manual fan actuation mod. Spent about $25 on the parts and now have complete control of the engine fan from the cab. Got a dual purpose switch from Erik's Surplus. It is an air switch and an single pole electric switch. The air side...
Wrecker with a bed cover
Here is a is what I believe to be a 5 ton Stewart Stevenson tan cover on my M936A2. Still needs one more bow in the rear most stake pockets. Its nice to have the spare tire and all the machinery covered now.
Used the new M936A2 to move the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado's OH-58 from the location it sat in for Christmas illumination down to some level ground where it will be picked up by the Pueblo Air Museum. They are going to clean it up, fill in the empty flight instrument and gauge...
Great idea. They didn't make it easy to lock or unlock that engagement lever. Oiled mine and it moves easy but you you sort of need to a contortionist to get a finger in there to unlock it. Your mod makes it much easier I'm sure.
Removed, disassembled cleaned and lubed my shutter stat. Fan still not locking up on my 936A2. On nf6x's post #50 you can see on the coolant contact end (thermal bulb end) it has a locknut on the shaft holding the thermal bulb. Has anyone tried adjusting that shaft in or out to try to change...
As always the Military Vehicle Collectors of Colorado will be rolling a good number of vehicles in Denver's 2014 St Patrick's Day Parade. They split us up in to two units this year because of the number of our vehicles. Anyone visiting Denver this weekend stop by and say hello. We stage...
Mr SteelandCanvas sometimes JR, I believe the valve is completely mechanical on the Cummins 6CTA. Heat from the coolant opens the valve allowing air to travel to the fan clutch. No wires are attached to this thermal valve. Just has a pressure line and a feed line to the clutch.
I have a M936A2 and I don't think the thermal valve mounted on the upper radiator hose that actuates the fan clutch is working correctly. Sometimes the water temp gets up to just over 200 degrees with no fan lockup/actuation. Is the thermal valve serviceable?? Is their a good source for...
1-Patriot-of-many, if there wasn't a big chain wrapped around the spades with a serious lock on it I'm sure the spades would have been long gone. Lucked out there also. No plans to do any heavy lifting with the crane but you never know when you have access to this kind of vehicle. It should...
Didn't luck out with that too much. The only thing in the tool boxes were 7 of the heavy duty snatch blocks. Two double pulley models and 5 single pulley units. Might be able to trade some of these for some of the other items. Did luck out on the truck though. Great runner and every system...
Here are some pictures of the "new" vehicle. A 1991 M936A2 won at Ft Carson a few weeks ago. Put it to work right away. That's a 1200 lb commercial lawn aerator also won at Carson some time back. Also something real cool. I found out what unit it came from. Found "10th CSH" "HQ 84" hand...
