    Interesting towing setup

Saw this accident waiting to happen heading down I-70 just west of Baltimore doing 60MPH. If I'm adding everything up right, the generator weighs more than the HMMWV, of course has no brakes, and HMMWV probably weighs a bit more than the tow vehicle, and has no brakes. All in all a highway...

    MEP004a

If it's like my MEP002A, then there's an outfeed breaker that is designed to protect the unit. Does your's have a three pole breaker?

    M977 Fluids..........

Yeah go figure on the gauges. I'm used to it now, some digital gauges would be nice in the future though!

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Interesting! The straps do appear to be at a very shallow angle, so even if the load wasn't 11k, the load applied could have been far higher.

    M977 Fluids..........

On the engine, straight 40 isn't quite right sadly. From what I've been able to find, the best reasonably available oil that meets the requirement is Delo 100. The spec you are after is CF-2, hopefully what's in it is rated that way. otherwise a change might be in order. On the transfer case my...

    M977 Fluids..........

There's been a number of threads on transmission, but don't use 15W-40, the military did, but only because they convinced Oshkosh to let them. The engine was the same deal. In the transmission use a TES-295 fluid only. On the engine oil, make sure it is straight 40W rated for 2-cycle Detroits.

storing my humvee for 3 months

Mine often sits 3 months over the winter in a protected barn. I throw the batteries on the solar system and she's ready to go the next spring.

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

No, only the front set steers. It's very similar to a Drott Cruzair, but with a Case diesel engine.

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

Mine was being used for shade by the calves, and here it is with the newest toy, it was very helpful swapping buckets and tires!

What have you done to your HEMTT/PLS/MK48 this week

I would love one of these covers, but sadly it wouldn't fit in my barn with it on :-(

Trusted Shop in Northern VA for 5ton Air brakes

Should be a little cheaper here: http://www.memphisequipment.com/M923-M939-5-Ton-6x6-Truck/M923-M939-Brakes/01-0917814-2530.html

Trusted Shop in Northern VA for 5ton Air brakes

I generally do all my own work. Only thing I've ever had a shop do has been tire work, but all my trucks live down near Abingdon, VA, so those shops are six hours away. Everything here in northern VA is silly money when it comes to car work. Generally I have all my standard car work done down...

Trusted Shop in Northern VA for 5ton Air brakes

Best just to replace the whole chamber. They are cheap, common parts from what I recall. No reason to mess with the chamber itself.

I need to rent/borrow a HMMWV on the east coast (Virginia) for a film project

Mine is out in Southwest VA, I think we could arrange something. It's a farm vehicle, we could muddy it up. It's a four door, soft top, and lives in a barn. PM me!

    Commercial HMMWV (Hummer) Advertisement

A neighbor gave me a hard copy of this today. Think you all might have seen it before, but I found it interesting.

My first hummer.....which one is best

Sounds like you have a very cool job, or a very time consuming hobby! It sounds like all off road sand work. We use ours off road on the farm, rock and dirt around here. I settled on a M998, 6.5L, 3 speed auto. It gets the job done, it is easy to work on, and is what I had in mine when I thought...

    heavier alternative to the MT654CR

You need a HT-740 Allison and the transfer case out of a HEMTT for that application :-)
