Looks like I need someone with a 5-ton or larger to pull this trailer down from Ft. Drum to Lebanon, VA. It's 768 miles it appears. Pickup would be some where around March 20th or so with delivery that following week. Pickup could be earlier, as the invoice is paid etc, but deliver will need to...
Won a M989A1 trailer up at Drum today. Question about the loading, since these are air brake trailers, I assume they forklift these into place on the trailer for shipment?
Thanks!
Very nice Torn! They wouldn't let me touch mine down in Ft. Worth each time I came down for work. To much fear that an EUC won't clear and that would create issues!
Wow, a conversion from the 302 to the Cummins 6CTA would be interesting. I see two fairly large issues to be tackled. The 6CTA weighs at least three times as much as the 302, 580lbs or so versus nearly 1600 I think. Then you've got to tackle the overall length. The 6CTA is around 4' long, the...
There are an amazing amount of hoses on these cranes. I've replaced three now I think, and I believe there's one leaking on the right stabilizer as well. Need to sort out where and how to get to it in the spring. Most of the hoses look original, so no surprise there. The general failure mode...
Excellent point about the engine oil, I never did burn that in my Deuce without filtering. The oil in mine was very clean, I suppose it had just been done before turning it in. Hopefully they didn't damage it too much running it on 15-40!
The oil comes out of HEMTT like a fire hose. Two 5 gallon buckets at a minimum to drain her on the engine side, nearly the same on the transmission. Both fluids are the same coming from the military, so if you are burning one, you can burn the other!
As much fun as the engine oil is, you need to dump the transmission fluid ASAP, and replace it a TES-295 fluid, or perhaps a TES-389 as an intermediate before the final fill.
I don't have the truck at hand, and this will be my second flush to get the fluid right. I went from the 15-40W in it, toe a TES-389 approved fluid, and now to a TES-289 fluid.
As I recall, you pop the hatch on the driver's side, and it's staring right at you.
Guys,
I'm going nuts trying to figure out where to put the fluid back into the transmission on the HEMMT, the -12 and -34s refer to the drain point, but not the fill! I assume it goes back in through the level check tube, but that seems very, very slow. Is there another fill port?
Thanks!
