Today me and a couple buddies went to the local junk yard, and I found an 83 civi blazer w/ 6.2 complete...and unharmed. I was curious to know if it's worth my time to go back and pull the injectors/IP/metal fuel lines/spin on fuel filter w/ base/glow plugs/and whatever else someone can think of...
whats outside air temp? my hubs are warm like you speak of when it's 80-90 outside, if it's 20-30 where your at than they shouldn't even get warm enough to warm your hands while you change a flat tire:-D
I did not get my truck from GL, it shows 78000 on the odometer. I guess it's possible to have that many origonal miles but it doesn't bother me if it has 178000. It's hard to believe that anything from the 80's exept a garaged Corvette or grandmas car has under 100,000. I hope that some of you...
if that question was for me, than I have to say no.....the directions say not to put anything in backwards/reverse, as pump/heater is directional and performance of the unit will suffer, hence forth a voided warranty. I would be curious to know of some of the installs poeple have done on these...
my controller card is up under the dash, and yet I have a box just like that hanging down near the 4x4 lever, it's not 1 of the (2) relays that are attached to the starter relay mounting bracket....so my question is, what is it.....? Thanks again!
hey, i'll take a crack at this, I bought a very similiar unit and wanted to use it on my 1008. After careful consideration (4 of us stood there and thought about it), I decided to return the coolant heater of that style and planned to go with a freeze plug style heater. We all concluded that 1...
first off...how do you know what he paid for it? dealers dont disclose those numbers
5000 is a bit much, I would offer him 3000 if I liked the truck, and when it's still there in a month, he'll probably let you know his bottom dollar ( 5000 isn't it ) and you can start there. I just thought I...
hope I can chime in...my 1008 shifts to quickly and doesn't like to shift from 3rd to 2nd going up hills unless I slow way down and punch it. When I come down to about 10-15 mph it's still in 3rd and it's hard to get it back to 2nd then too? Makes the truck feel gutless, and is bad for towing...
Welcome to the site.....BUY IT, GREAT TRUCK, I cant say enough good about mine, and I use mine for the same things you will....I'll speak for the group and say, we want some pictures!:-D
I'd bet money it's the front shaft......slip yoke is loose/shaft is bent/ or upper u-joints or cv unit is bad......does it click, that would be the cv flopping around.
I get my drivelines from the junk yard....found many, many good shafts that bolted right in
I commonly get axles at the...
lol, it's oil galley, and not marvin's oil, Marvel mystery oil, i'm sorry but I got to laughin when reading this post and I couldn't resist! I couldn't say for sure, someone once told me the main ingredient in that oil is peppermint oil, and it smells a bit like it. A good ol' junk yard...
you may not even need to mess with the relay under the dash, it only allows current thru itself via a switch, batteries wire ++, --, there's not a whole lot more that isn't self explanitory, you'll probably have to locate any and all resistors that are meant to reduce 24-12 volts, that's sounds...
i'd buy the 85 and find a brush guard if you want one........my 84 1008 looks like it was painted with a brush too, is this just a few idiotswith less brains than money, or does the military do this? I plan on sanding mine, maybe wet sanding it and clear coating it if it turns out ok. Good luck...
the combined total voltage should be up around 28, as good alts usually put out 14 or more. Dont forget if it's the drivers side alt you can run a 100amp alt available at your favorite parts store, for about 100.00, the application is listed within this site or if you cant find it post back here...
Yeah, dodges bring a hefty price tag. I'd steer clear of them for that reason alone although they are good trucks. Cucv's are a great choice obviously, parts are available if you know where to look and this site helps some diagnosis of problems if you want to work on it your self. I am curious...
you could email the company and ask your questions, if the respond with good answers I know I would be happy to have another choice for when I have to do mine.
Yes, I was parked on level ground for checking. I didn't think about the fuel tank being on that side, that with the driver for 25 years will definately cause some sag. All other old chevy's i've had were dual tank trucks so thats why they dont sag like this. As soon as I get some time I will...
