so basically my question is: which leaf spring is bad, front or rear.....no springs are broken. Here are the measurements left front 35.5/right front 36.75/left rear 37.25/right rear 38.5. All measurements are from the ground to the top of fenderwell opening in the center.
Basically the drivers...
I did it a little different
I had to get new batts for 1008 and was also unhappy with the waste of space under the hood....
I found a late 80s 1 ton 2wd w/ 6.2 (civy) and went to work pulling the batt trays and coolant overflow bottle, (bottle is attached to pass side batt tray, fits pretty...
have you considered keeping the origanol equipement and modifying the truck to suit your needs, you can always spend a weekend putting it back to origanol form if you want to sell it..........:-D
I got a question too!
As you stated in your thread, the speedo hooks to the tranny....mine hooks to transfer case and odometer works, but no speedo. What gives....should I try connecting to tranny? Will my speedo be accurate if it works....Thanks to anyone with info, I like to do about 2-3...
my 1008 was doing that just last week, it was my draglink...loose in the "socket" on both ends. I suspect that a loose stearing box (old and tired) could also be the problem sometimes. Mine started doing it about a week after I greased it....must have pushed out the only support left! While...
Sometimes when we get a big snow storm and there's nothing to do, a few of us get together and drive the old county roads lookings to find someone stuck or in the ditch. There's always 2 or more stuck vehicles and we NEVER take money. A designated driver like the wife and a few beers for me and...
just a couple of things to add here...
.my buddy has 2 diesel pickups and he has said that it raised his bill almost a hundred dollars on a really cold month with both plugged in.....
I think I read a post on this site somewhere that said you cant use the front most freeze plugs on either...
I dont know about the glow plugs or the valve but the st 80/st85 or whatever it is, is a good unit. I assume that you didn't get it because of cost. with that in mind, the gpr 109(napa) is what I got. I researched the function and all of this unit and am currently using it on mine, works...
the hole in the core support that you located is the factory civy location for air duct attachment. As you stated (RAM AIR)......it's not really. The air rolls in front of a truck and over the hood creating nothing more than a "dead" spot in front of the radiator. Slow speed operation will...
I had to build a custom plow setup for my 1008 this year because the guy I bought plow assembly from had it on an old ford and almost everything got bent with misuse/design flaws. I think it was a meyer origanally(pump is). The frame mount was wrong as far as height and width so I tore it all...
My 84 1008 doesn't have rain gutters above the doors like every other chevy truck of similiar year, what gives?
was this a military option or did they just forget to on a few trucks on the assembly line?
I got interested in putting a light bar on this truck and noticed this...how can I mount...
if thier internal locking hubs than thier right, you can check axles by twisting them at the joint(should have no slop) and inspect the cap where it meets the rubber seal, they start to "chip" here when thier old and tired
...BTW look for placement of groove on the stub shaft where snap ring...
I cant speak for all trucks but my 1008 has the upper radiator hose higher than the fill point so you can never get all the air out of the system, it can cause it to over heat. problem is fixable with a funnel from napa(kit comes with 3 different rad caps/funnel) PN/77-4000. I just bought one...
does it smell hot.......
is it full of coolant and burped too?
does it do this regardless of how full gas tank is?
figured it's somewhere to start anyhow:-D
The back of my visor says:
if temp is above 32F depress accelerator 1/2 way and hold.....follow glow plug light indicator........crank for up to 15 seconds
if temp is below 32F depress accelerator to floor and hold.....follow glow plug light indicator....crank for up to 15 seconds
if engine...
