Question for all you learned folks:
I plan on repowering with a whole new driveline because I want at least a 6.5L/4L80e combo. What are the pros/cons of "upgrading" to a 6.5L Turbo/4L80e? Either way, I would be installing a take-out engine/trans/transfer case. How much more needy/complex is...
If you really want to see what is below the rear seat bases, the rear door blanks come off easily with only 3-4 bolts. For communication/radio trucks you'll find additional batteries stored there, but more than likely you will just find sand/dirt and some candy wrappers. At least that was my...
I purchased it from a helpful fellow Steel Soldiers member in response to a want ad I placed. IIRC, I or someone else posted up the correct NSN in another winch related thread on this site. Good luck with the hunt - it took me ~ 2 months.
Cool. Thanks for the info. Feedback like this is helpful as I try to sort the wheat from the chaff using my limited knowledge. IIRC, GMA went out of business in 2013, so I will keep on the hunt for NOS components.
"Winterized" the 2 man with X Doors and added a "stealth" 4 man configuration with SF rear doors and NOS lap belts in the back. Probably not many takers for riding in the back until warmer weather returns, though.
This is more a question of color matching and aesthetics, than physical compatibility. How well do the camo patterns/colors match up between different manufacturers? I have NOS GMA Corp tops and doors in 3 color camo, but am having trouble finding a NOS 4 man camo cargo cover manufactured by...
I agree, but then again, where are you really going to go if your engine is not running. Winching 100 ft at a time on an electric winch is not going to get you too far on battery power alone.
It also helps to keep the RPMs up with the throttle lock while winching, but the underlying issue is the aftrrmarket pump.
A properly powered Hydraulic MM winch should pull with ease as it is rate for twice the base M998 weight.
Ha, yah, I will emphatically 2nd the above feedback. I came into a sharp left-hand turn a little to hot on wet conditions and the mv locked right up and the ass end swung around quick. I immediately let off thr brakes, but loss of traction on all four tires continued for some time possibly due...
Amerex B500 5lbs ABC is indeed the correct unit and I found them cheapest at Triangle Fire. $26 a pop seems like cheap insurance for all the $$$ I am dumping into these things. :)
Nice. After yesterday's heavy downpours, I can definitely tell you what does not work: torn missing seals on my x doors. I suppose it is all relative when factoring in all the water that washes in from the bed on my 2 man. :) I may have to pick up one of those seal kits myself.
