I replaced my weird- acting air governor with one from OD Iron (a D2) and now my air pressure acts even stranger. Before it was steady, but constantly at 120 psi. Now it slowly builds to about 100 and then drops off rapidly if I engage the front axle or if I even have to brake alot. It tends to...
Anybody interested in a cargo cover for a 5 ton (excellent condition -3 color camo) or a decent cover for a deuce that has 2 feet in height added to make it taller to fit a tool truck or whatever?
I replaced the old Midland air regulator with a new D-2 reg. Started the Deuce and built air just fine. Pulled it into the driveway (after warming up for 5 min) and the air warning buzzer went off.
I used the brakes quite a bit getting the deuce out of the back yard, but still, that doesn't...
When I did my brake job, I found it was not hard to mis-align the holes in the wheel and still get a good tightening on the lugs. Trouble is, once you get on the road, the wheel holes slip into the proper place and voila- no torque on the lugs at all! Scary!
Whenever putting a wheel back on, I...
Don't mean to hijack this thread, but check your hub bolts on the rear axles as well. Mine keep working loose even with new split washers on.
I checked the TM and found a place that says to tighten them 90 to 95 FT LBS, but when I did one that way, the paper gasket and all the RTV squished out...
OK. Here's the route.
:driver:From Huntsville: US 431 over the mountain through Guntersville, Boaz, Albertville, Attalla, Gadsden, right turnoff for Anniston to Oxford. Turnoff for I-20 to ATL.:driver:This will be a 4 hour drive plus approx.40 minutes for rest stops and join-ups.
Convoy...
Well I managed to break two bows on the back of the deuce. Snagged them on a guy wire off a telephone pole (duh).
So I go visit a childhood friend (Randy Carlin) that runs a cabinet shop here in Huntspatch to ask if he can custom-cut some new uprights for my bows.
He did and they are beautiful-...
Friday
I plan on leaving Friday and returning Sunday (see last line of my previous post). You're leaving on Wednesday, correct?
I still don't know about using I-20. I feel mighty uncomfortable with everything zooming past me about 30 MPH differential speed!
I'm not sure which route would be best.
1) US 231/431 down through Anniston, AL and then over to ATL via I-20
2) US 72 through Scottsboro, AL and over to Rome, GA
Other ideas welcome.
I was planning on driving over Friday and driving back on Sunday.
ALERT! I'm not going. I no longer own "Tinkerbell". Someone made me a good offer on her and she's gone. If you want to Convoy over to GA, it's entirely up to you now.
I'm trying to get a thread started for forming convoys for the GA rally this October.
I posted a poll to see if anyone else...
Lockout Hubs
I have the Ouverson lockouts on my Deuce and I have to say it was, in my opinion, the easiest modification I've ever done for the amount of pleasure it gives. The Deuce is just so much easier to drive. I can actually get through the NASA parking lot without having to turn a corner...
Don't know if this helps
I had to get commercial plates anyway because the vehicle has the capability of having a road weight of 18,000 lbs. I tried to get them to license it as a recreation vehicle, but they wouldn't budge.
I don't need a CDL because Alabama only requires that if the...
State Farm Insurance covers my Deuce as a commercial stake cargo truck weighing 13,210 lbs with a 5K carrying capacity. One requirement they had was taking pictures of it for their file. No prob there- they wanted to see it so bad they even drove over to my house for the pics!
SFI knows it has...
