If you want to verify the pressure, The drain cocks on the bottom of the air tank are 1/4 pipe thread. Many standard gauges fit there with no adapters needed. Turned right, it's viewable without crawling under. There are many other places, that is just the easiest/least wrenching that come to...
RE: Re: RE: Dumb Question Of The Year
Even if the fan only draws a HP or two worth of power, it's a high percentage of the power that the engine develops at an idle. That means with the same engine speed, the same accessory drive noises, etc, that the fuel will be "turned up" by the governor...
RE: duece title help
Several states don't require titles. This is all the titling companies do, they register in a state with different laws according to your location and situation. Vermont would also only require a bill of sale on this vehicle, and would not issue a title, thus causing all...
Definately read up on the bobbed deuces. What you're describing is 99 percent the same work, only less cutting.
One thought, not having bobbed one myself, but having looked curiously at many of them- As you read through, you'll see lots of pics with no bed installed, and the back of the truck...
It sounds to me like nobody at the parts store is looking. It's available in ANY brand that you can find a U-joint in locally, they've probably got two on the shelf... If they dig out the catalog there's a picture. If you bring some crayons you can color it for them, maybe then they'd find...
RE: trailer
I think it would track wider, it would be as wide as a deuce with the hubs flipped for single rear wheels, but having dual wheels installed, no? Most states require fenders and mudflaps to cover trailer tires.
I wonder what they were doing with that. I could be off base, even with...
Only if it's plugged I believe. If it's still all connected, it vents inside of the slobber tube on the engine, it's pretty dificult to hear if the engine's running. According to what I've read, the separation of the vent line is an attempt to reduce condensation of water inside the brake...
Re: RE: Duece front U bolts needed ASAP!!
Yes, it's a bit no-no to re-use a U-bolt. That said however, these bolts when torqued correctly are not loaded nearly so much as some, the engine and overall driveline ratios don't abuse them so much, etc, so while it IS a bad practice in general, if...
Excellent advice, however this part should be clarified- Hold the chalk still and rotate the tire to make the line. Also, a board with a small nail can make a very fine "scribe mark" that doesn't actually dig into the tire, but makes a very precice line as well.
I've given this advice before...
There's a couple of acceptable ways to do this, however short of removing all the batteries completely removing the dogbone is the easiest to convey, hardest to get wrong, and do dangling "live" wires anywhere.
That setup will overheat the (crap) out of the brake caliper if one front and one rear are used at speed to stop a six to seven thousand pound mud truck. Two or three times as heavy means two or three times as much heat.
That setup also wrecks pinion bearings very quickly, I'm assuming from a...
RE: Re: What type of platsic fuel line to use?
Many factory original as designed medium and heavy duty trucks use air brake tubing as the factory fuel delivery and return tubing.
I've never seen it used above about 30 lbs, my understanding is that you will have a bit more than that??? However...
In a nutshell, it sounds like you are just verifying the air supply that you would otherwise have to ASSUME is the same as the dash gauge before you throw away or rebuild a very expensive part.
I have one of those I got for one car needing a window regulator replaced. It put in three rivets then, and probably a zillion of the molly bolt rivets that hold license plate brackets to plastic bumbers while I was at the olds/pontiac/cadillac garage. I'd like to have bought a good one but a...
I bought a lawn tractor for fifty bucks in February because I thought I could use the mower deck. Turns out I couldn't, so I sold the whole thing for thirty bucks. This is why I work for somebody else.
Ifthe tube were already broken, I wouldn't think twice.
RE: breakdown
Interresting- Any other military reference I've seen (which certainly isn't all of them) says not to lube the lug nuts. This one says to oil them. I wonder if this Is this a specific vehicle, or was there an update at some point?
I searched all over and found others with this issue, but no good solutions besides carrying the radiator to a shop, or cutting the tube and using hose and/or a new tube. It was bad enough that I couldn't push through with a coat hanger wire, and obviously when the coat hanger doesn't work, it...
There was one of those here in Vergennes not long ago, but only for a couple of days. Not sure why. By the time I went back for an actual look, it was gone...
