What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

The military doesn't use "old metal cans with paint chips falling out", they buy new plastic fuel cans and sell the old metal one to you and me...........

What have you done to your 5 ton this week?

They do help in refueling, however the original intent of the strainer was to prevent fuel theft. Has nothing to do w/ "filtering". I did tell my nephew they are there to prevent a hand grenade being dropped in the tank. He said "cool".

Kentucky: VIN stencil in lieu of plate??

Jim, Welcome to the Bluegrass State. Land of pretty horses and fast women. Kentucky will require a plate to be on the vehicle. Once the VIN verification is satisfied by the local sheriff's office, you apply for a KY Title and plate, your vehicles will be eligible for Historic Vehicle plates...

A new spin to an old problem

My 813 had the same concern, sluggish/questionable engagement. I took Ron's (73M819) advice and drained the fluid, filled it with diesel fuel, short drive (no loads) to warm it up, drained the diesel ( and all the funk/dead bugs, spiders), service with fresh gear oil and it works like a champ...

A man w/ a plan. Sounds like your thinking it through. You could just bring two known good batteries w/ you, 10 minutes to swap out. I have learned in all my recoveries is that be prepared for everything and the vehicle will fire right up, drive right home. Show up with little to no support and...

Hopefully it starts, if not winch/come-a-long it up on the trailer. Jumper cables may not help, the 998 is 24 volt. GP folks may help out. Also dissemble the cargo cover and stow, it will help greatly in reducing wind resistance and wear and tear on the cover. Take pictures. Welcome aboard.

ILLINOIS - HMMWV - LICENSE Plate? Just A YES or NO PLEASE

I read your original post yesterday, it stated that you had successfully registered the vehicle, however, the state of IL revoked your plates two months later. That would lead me to believe that you followed the correct procedures to title and register the vehicle. It further appears that the IL...
