I did that with an engine. brought it to the guys house and he didnt have all the money. He said take it or leave it, I took the money and left the engine with the crank pulley burried about 8in in his front yard after it exited my lifted truck........
That is definatly a good point, I am going to do this on my crane truck as there is a slight bit of movment with the oe park brake. A lot of the older roll back wreckers had them.
"You need to come get my old shovel deuce and mount it where the boom on it was then it would rotate and the frame is already reinforced, and you would be saving a real shovel deuce. "
That would be awsome! whats the reach on one of them?
Ok, makes more sence now. Your comparison was of apples to oranges. The 7.5in 10 bolt is a far cry different than the 10.5in 14 bolt. Im pretty shure no mater what you do to a 6.2 its not gonna hurt a 10.5 no mater the ratio.
7.5's on the other hand......well, that was a discrace to GM...
I have 3.73's in my 28 and love it. When it had the 6.2/400 it had 3.73 with 34 in tires and I thought it was a great compromise of power and speed. You will be happy with it.
My next biuld I want to run a 61/70 combo with 3.07 gears and see what I can do for mpg's
Yes, I know. But I am just clarifying, The 3.73 gear is thicker in the direction you described, I just mesured them, it is roughly .030 thicker. Just trying to help out with some of the miss information that is posted on here way to frequently.
And for those that dont know........a 3.73 ring is thicker than a 4.56........
Yes you brought up the issue about using the same carrier for both sets but you cant put a 3.73 on your 4 series carrier anyways so the relevance of the "thick" 4.56 ring is exempt.
Have you taken the top off the ip and mechanicaly moved the shut down lever? Mabye try that before you pull the pump and send it off. Sounds like funds are tight so this free test is worth doing. A new top cover is much cheaper than a pump.
Electrolysis corrosion of the aluminum on your engine. Thats what it ate off. I would flush it very well and get a good DIESEL coolant. Something with an anti-cavitant substance in it. It will help seal the metals.
