The truck I am buying has this for paper: an SF97 that assigns ownership to an auction company, along with a printed document from the auction company signing ownership to the guy I bought it from. He will give me a bill of sale assigning ownership to me, and the above mentioned papers. Will the...
I went back and looked at an M1008 that I saw a few days ago. It wouldn't start, so I put the batteries from my civie diesel in it. I waited for the wait to start light to go out just once, and it started up. It took a little cranking, and I could tell that not all cylinders hit right away, but...
After my first look at an M1008 for sale, on the way home I realized I didn't have a really good evaluation of the truck. I need to know what to look for mechanically, and how to assess it. I am good with the bodywork etc needed. So, I am going to put a set of batteries in it. What should I be...
I got a ride on one at an AMCA cycle meet. It sounded just like the movie! The guy was driving it crazy, over dirt piles, through holes, it was unstoppable. He said they built it with the motorcycle front to make it more familiar and easy for the troops to drive...seeing as how many of them were...
I looked at a M1008, and it was somewhat warmed up before I got there. Seller says it needs a jump to start when cold (Old batteries). So, I don't know what it starts like when cold. When I started it, the wait to start light didn't light up, and the truck started ok. It had a very high idle...
I test drove a M1008 today. It had been warmed up when I got there (Cold New England day). There was no glow plug light, and it started right up. Owner says when cold it needs a jump to start. The idle seemed high. I drove it up and down the road. At 45 it seemed like it was really winding (I...
Gas vehicles ok as BOV?
Both of my daily use trucks are diesel... 1996 Chevy C2500 6.5 turbo diesel, and a 1999 K2500 Suburban. I would imagine both would be poor choices due to the computers for the fuel injection delivery. How about my WWII Dodge WC56? How about a M715? I know it is gas, but...
Mites
Modified or incomplete ones can be found relatively cheap. I bought one for $1200 without the engine on ebay. At one point somebody had planned to install a VW bug motor in it. I was able to locate an NOS motor for it, but it was pricey, so I didn't buy it. I sold the Mite to a local guy...
Is there a special tool required to remove the spark plugs from an M715 engine? I have to help a guy get one running to move it, and he says he doesn't have a socket that will fit it. My WC56 looks a bit easier to get the plugs out of! Thanks for any tips. Hal
Title in CT
Because of its age, it needs a title. Below is a link to CT DMV page. You could sell it to a friend in a non-title state, have them register it, and then you can 'buy' it from them, and then you may have better luck getting it titled here in CT. Or go through a title company (But...
I'm looking to buy or trade into a M1009 that runs and has no or minimal rust. I'm in CT. I can pay cash or trade. I have old iron that I have not taken to the range in years, and a 1984 police kawasaki that I have not started in a few years. Any emails or leads appreciated. Thanks!
I just found this site, and it is great! I'm new here, but have loved green since I was a kid. I have a WC56 that was returned to the states in the 1970's (With French tags). It's in pretty good shape, but it needs seats. The frames are there, but the rest is toast. I'd love to hear some ideas...
