It actually wasn't bad at all, until I got to the lugs that Soldier 2 ran on with a Superman torque wrench. The longest amount of time was taken cleaning and painting the wheels. I was anticipating that it would be a lot more worse than it turned out to be.
I'm not actually mounting them. Luckily they came on the rim. I'm just cleaning them up and putting them on. Unfortunately I have hit a snag. The last dual lugs were put on entirely too tight. I got all of the outside lugs off, and 5 of the inner thimbles using a deuce lug wrench and six foot...
When I was working DOT only the chicken**** guys did stuff like that. Unfortunately there were LOTS of those guys.
Back to the originally scheduled thread....
It looks pretty good from the pics. If you can get it for the right price, and it runs and drives solid, go for it! If/when I get room to get another one, I'm going to look for a non turbo.
They're Goodyear G286 tires. I figured since I'm using the truck on the road 99% of the time, I needed something with better all around performance. I'm aware of how NDCCs perform in the rain and snow and didn't care for that experience myself. The only off road I do is across a field or up a...
SOunds like the MC vent line. Many of the trucks were converted to an axle type vent and they left the original line in place, but disconnected. At least that's how they left mine.
They're Goodyear 11.00 x 20. I'll get the model numbers when I get home. I'll get some pics up after I get them mounted, hopefully by the weekend or so....
I picked up 11 Goodyear tires on rims, from member jappel's compound, in 80% or better shape! Now it's out with the old, in with the new! Thanks to Jason for the tires, and John for the help. Truly good people.
Between the tire change and my air brake switch upgrade kit, I can't wait to get...
I don't think I'm going to make this one. I have plans for that morning in the more southern area of the state. I look forward to the next one though!
That's a great idea Bob! I love the Woodstock. I don't think I've ever been there without the bike.
I usually keep my truck right around 45-50 on the open road, and that's right around 2000-2200 rpm in 5th. I don't usually lose speed on gradual hills, but I do have to shift to 4th on steeper grades. I have to go to 3rd on really good hills, and that's right around 20-25 mph, at right around...
As others have stated, the best thing you can do is to make time to go preview the truck yourself so you can get an idea of what you're dealing with. The truck that you bought may indeed have been running when they brought it into the yard, and it also could have a cracked block or head, a...
