If you get a plastic fuel jug and get a rubber fuel bushing and install it with a fuel shut off you can gravity feed almost any engine.
Fuel bushing (tecumseh part # 33679) can be found at most outdoor power equipment shops.
I'm not one for by passing safety switches, especially neutral switches. So I would get that repaired properly. Then I would test the glow plugs and their circuit.
WhenI had the box off last summer I power washed the frame, rear end springs and whatever else I could. Then I wire wheeled and wire brushed it. Then sprayed it with rustoleum primer and then black.

I would do the "doghead starter relay mod" as a preventive maintenance item. I also installed a new intake from gimprobb, seems to have a little better performance.
From what I have read here, because this is something I want to add to my M1008, all I need is a momentary switch and a piece of 12 ga wire, ty it into the light blue wire at the GP card and all is good. My stock system still works so I want to add this as a back up.
