Does anyone have experience with a vehicle mounted Yaesu FRG-7 receiver?
Specifically, if placed on a GI radio shock mount is this radio durable enough for mobile use?
A HAM license is on my to-do list. Until then a receiver will do.
Thanks
Jim

Lot of basic info on radial engines. Of particular interest to me was the info on the Lycoming XR-775 which is near the bottom of the linked page.

No luck with this in forum search.
I need to be able to communicate with parts guys and mechanics regarding the M1009.
Questions:
(1) Are the M1009 frame, suspension & axles standard GM civilian items?
(2) If so are they 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton? . Does the K20/K30 nomenclature relate...
My '86 M1009 has a bracket on the floor in the cargo area, left side, behind wheel well. It sits up about 3" off the floor and its flat surface is about 6"x10". It looks factory.
Anybody know what this was intended for?
I do not see it in the -10 Operators manual.
Thanks
Jim
Bought an M1009, the pintle hitch was missing. It has the socket for the pintle shaft and slotted plate for safety chain hooks (see photo).
Will a hitch from an M1008 Series truck work with what I have or are other adapters and misc. gizmos required to get it properly installed?
Thanks in...
Bought a 1986 M1009 from GSA. According to the GSA rep the vehicle came from an Air Force or Air Guard unit in the Indianopolis area. Had been parked for about a year in a state surplus yard. Started with a jump from a 5 ton tractor. Drove it 120 miles to home without problems.
Engine bay and...
I'd like to be able to tow an M101-A2 trailer with a civilian pickup or M1009 without using a vertically extended receiver hitch pintle adapter. Due to the surge brake unit, the A2 lunette is higher than the M101 & M101-A1. Even with the tallest adapter available the A2 is still down in the...
I'm getting the urge to buy an M1009.
Looks like GSA sells a lot of them. However it seems most of the GSA units have been parked for at least a year before being auctioned.
What items are the "pre-flight" checklist for an M1009 which has been parked and dormant for a year or two?
Items...
