Not sure if I have the manual Allison someone was looking at listed - but a couple of other 6-8 speed medium transmissions are. HEAVY.
Note: Was not aiming for a freeway truck, but to maintain 55 at peak torque (hills etc) so undoubtedly they will allow a M1008/M1031/M1028/M1010 etc to drive a...
Should be a direct bolt on - it was an option in 2001-2006 2500HD and 3500 Duramax (6.5?) trucks... and I am sure most of the manuals went into 4x4's although I have seen a few in fleet vehicles. I'm thinking the 205 wil fit. Will try and upload a comparison chart (excel) of the various manual...
I can see both sides but tend more to the buyer beware side. However if the buyer is not satisfied, then a refund is in order. And the truck needs to be returned to the point of sale for the funds to be handed back (same as it was when they were handed over) and that is in my opinion on the...
Glad to see this thread is back on track - the discussion was aimed at non-typical manual transmission swaps not automatic swaps or typical SM465/NV4500 swaps. All are equally valid topics but for another thread.
Update: 2 busy days at work left little time to do much - but was able to get the fusible links replaced (I think I got all the damaged ones) so now I have glow plugs and their timer/lamp etc working, power to the Gen 2 leads as it is supposed to be) and it starts! So as long as I have a battery...
Should be doable - once I get the situation under control I'll mail it your way - then if nothing else the alt should be fixable and available to be paid forward to the next dummy like me who busts his up trying to rebuild it without a press!
@Warthog: Lets hope the fusible link did it's job and protected the glow plug controller! Thatks for the info will save me a bunch of hassle trying to figure out which one fried - hard to stay clean and do that while working... Now to NAPA.
@CUCVNut: If you are in the area that is great - I'm...
Anyone ever measured all of the fusible links and made a kit of appropriate lengths/gauge of link wire and the appropriate connector / heat shrink tubing etc? 1stSarge (CUVElectric)?
Judging by my stupidity in not disconnecting the batteries first - maybe I shouldn't!
Although I did find signs of old arcing inside the alternator I was planning to rebuild... Probably that's why I always lost charge on the rear battery - the alt was dead. But still wondering what I fried -...
*Petaluma* - clumsy fiingers!
Was rebuilding my passenger side alternator - was being the operative word. The rear case is now cracked (badly) - my faullt while trying to remove the end bearing per TM's by pressing inward. Well, lightly tapping with a hammer and socket actually. Roadside...
Love your 1009 sliders - have you ever thought about making them for the Tahoe (00-06 style aka CUCV2 equivalent of the M1009)? There are some on expedition portal that would be interested...
My searching must be using wrong terms.. Looking for info on upgrades to the front D60 discs and calipers, want to mount 40" - 46" tires and increase GCVW to 22000 so I'm sure I will need better than OEM.
The rims (16" Hutchinson) have a 15.2" inside diameter which I have to fit upgraded...
You might also have a weight issue on the 2500 depending on it's GVW - that box etc is not all that light.
You might want to read through this thread - it is a very usefull truck as it is.

Probably been covered somewhere before - but what are the advantages of fixed yokes on our vehicles (wit relatively little lift and fairly stock wheel travel)?
I will be towing up to 8000# at times, and was more concerned with the gear splits than low or tall end of range gears - t-case can take care of low and ring/pinion and tire size the top end.
Also will not be running an overpumped and aggressively tuned/nitrous fed high HP engine - 250 to...
