    Wiring gremlins...

E-Brake light remains on all the time, seat belt light works only occasionally. Have checked all crimps/ends/connections and seem to be good, had to remove the seat belt buzzer (why on earth did these trucks have one anyway? You are tactical, get in and key the ignition and BZZZZZ!!!!) as it...

    What's a good price for a 205?

what about $2800 for a NEW 3:1 LOMAX 205 conversion? Seems a bit high to me, even though IS a lot beefier. The lower low range (3:1 vs 2:1) would be nice but an ORD Magnum has 2.72:1 and can double even lower for $1900 or so.... The LOMAX is a great device for our trucks, but it's AAEMBLED price...

Capability vs. Vulnerability & Sophistication vs. Complexity

Personally I lean towards mods that will increase it's durability and useability off road. There are already lots of good road 4x4's but few that can be field fixed and beat in the bush cheaply. To that end however, some mods are not simple bolt on/off reversible but yet are ones that contribute...

    transmission swaps

Hmmm intetresting, all the forward gear ratios are different. GM-vs-Ford models perhaps? Will have to try to find my original info source.... Are you sure there isn't a mixup with the 6S-750 which was introduced as an uprated 6 speed for diesels...

    CUCV Alternator Rebuild Question

Me for one - so how do you remove the bearing? (properly) I also found that the replacement rear cases you can get for the non-isolated (ie common version) easily can be made to work. Dremel off the guide posts that are to close to the diode trio heat sink, and enlarge the hole where the...

    transmission swaps

More time planing with Excell, as I know I won't be able to do the entire swap (trans, doubler, tires) at once, so a chart to see how various combinations of components during build phases would work. And to try to decide the construction sequence....
