    Survival 109 build

I have plans to stay mainly 12 volt in the box side of truck with a combination of roof solar panels and I have a small Hatz single cylinder diesel with 12 volt starter. I plan a small amp GM alternator charging a battery bank located under the truck some where. I believe in KISS Keep it Simpler...

    Greetings from OH

Welcome from Wild Wonderful West Virginia!!! I have a deuce and a M925 cargo truck and both are lots of fun. I would suggest that you watch the auctions and check prices. It would be best to preview the trucks in person but I bought mine from the GL video. I made a list of 10-20 trucks to bid on...

ARTILLERY ROAD, CLARKSVILLE TENN GL SITE What is it like ? cow pasture? Any GL help?

Anyone ever make a pick up at Artillery Road, Clarksville, Tennessee ? Gl site say no assistance and the site pictures I have seen resemble a hay field with vehicles stacked literally side by side in rows. Is this a lot in the middle of nowhere? Is there any tow company in the area? I would...

    Survival 109 build

Thanks for the pictures of what is inside the box walls. With all that foam, are you planning to haul freezer pops and push ups and become the local ice cream truck? How are you going to resurface the box interior? ........ Are you going to cover the wiring or use conduit? I was thinking...

Just won Hyster E40XL-MIL on GL

I would not put much stock in the condition code as a indicator of true machine condition. My M925 was red tagged for peeling paint on radiator ends and need for end gaskets that have never leaked. 47000 miles and new tires all around. They write something to get rid of the old to get the new...

    German STORCH of WWII

My father saw in the 1950's in the eastern panhandle of West Virginia a German marked plane similar to a Piper Cub that a man who was in the service in WWII told his men to disassemble the plane, crate it and he had it shipped some how to the USA. Some war toy! He flew the plane that had been...

    Survival 109 build

I am in the process of trading for a M109 that I intend to modify the box for light camping and other uses. I plan to install a larger side window near the front to serve as possible second path of fire escape from the box. How thick are the metal sides and the distance between the outside and...

    New guy from Vancouver Canada

You should have two transfer case sticks..... one is front axle in and out of gear........one is high and low range. Starting in fourth and topping out at 15 you are in low range. Top speed is 40-50 at best. These are sturdy trucks but are not speed wagons. The brakes are skinny so give...

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

On the home made caps .did you mill out the splines only? Did you put some kind of bushing or bearing to carry the end of the axle shaft? I have heard of hub covers used in Willys Jeeps. Thanks everyone for treads and info so far. Mark

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

Things would be easy to find on site if search function worked and not show me a blank filled screen. I am not stupid or lazy or a combination of the two and only post a question when all else fails.

An M796 Bolster for my 5-ton....

For loading sleds of material onto flat bed winch trucks in the oil field, they use a tail roller on the bed edge and behind it they put a removable cable wheel mounted on a piece of square tube fitting into a square hole in the bed and then run the cable on top of the helper pulley so you are...

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

I have air shift transfer case so with hubs locked out the front axle should not turn. All 4x4 trucks I know have some form of lockable hub to increase mpg. I remember that monster trucks ran spools in their Rockwell axles and to turn in the show ring some one turned out one hub to allow...

Deuce Front lock in/out hubs ? What history of use , MPG change with them?

I am in the process of trading for a M109 deuce with regular locked in hubs. Has anyone had good service from lock in/out front hubs? Did they make any MPG difference that you could determine? What is your opinion on lockable hubs? Before you flame me I have reviewed site for examples and...

    My 1st M923

My friend ran M35a2 trucks as log trucks and ran one so long off road he wore a hole in the axle pumpkin and lost the axle oil. He said military stuff was tough trucks but you are not going to win any speed contests. I agree that the longer wheelbase truck would allow longer logs. The single...

M109 She Beast is down - Fuel System Failure

I had a fuel filter on a gas engine that had fuel just touching the paper element and the paper element wicked enough fuel to run the power unit. Maybe your duece was wicking fuel out of the filter leaving 1/2 in the filter can?

Average Joe's first Deuce - Mods Thread

I would suggest that you have an engine oil analysis done for a base line test of the engine's condition, antifreeze, fuel, bearing material in oil. Our Cat dealer has test kits for $15.00 which is a good deal on the info. Mark

My neighbor slid in a Cat 4 cylinder diesel with a Chevy flywheel and clutch with a home made adapt o plate to a 4 speed in a Chevy 1 ton and ran the wheels off of it for a long time. Not a Deuce but if there is a will there is a way. Mark
