    New guy from York, PA

Every once in a while a Jeep trailer will come up in GSA auction or Govliquidation site. I have seen the 1/4 ton trailers used by WVDOH a long time ago usually to put cold mix pothole patch material in a trailer pulled by a pick up. I would advertise in the local traders guide paper under Jeep...

    Expandabile Van Drivability

The wheel base of a M925 and a longer M934 is only about a foot longer. Sure the tractor trucks will turn tighter but you have a chopper ride with a short truck. I have a crew cab Chevy truck and it rides better but takes a country mile to turn as the wheel base is 4 feet longer. If you want a...

    LMTV vs 5 TON

I would suggest a test drive of both to see which one floats your boat. I have a M925 and have had a M35 . 5 ton easier to drive with automatic and full air brakes. LMTV look interesting and cat makes good motors. Mark

    Blow by

Blow by can be ok if engine has enough compression to start on its own without either. A single bad cylinder would cause a miss, or lazy cylinder. Also rings may be dry from storage and may be stuck on piston. Bottom line some blow by can be normal as long as engine will start and has power when...

    My M101A2 Camper build

I look at my M101 and M105 trailers and my flat bed generator trailers and think a longer trailer tongue would give some more space and make the trailer easier to back and handle. I notice that tractor trailers now have an extended roof and side panels on the end of the trailer for better...

    M101 tire retrofit size?

The easiest thing is to take one tire and put it side by side with the other sizes and compare height and width . Some are similar heights in different sizes. Mark

    Geared lug wrench

Who knows how long it has been since the lug nuts have been off the studs. I have found that a good soaking over time of penetrating oil like in US, P.B. Blaster and wrapp the nuts with a hammer to vibrate. Try geared wrench again with possible longer bar and bounce your force off and on the...

I just purchased a MEP005A with no power output

I have worked on motor driven welder units with brushes which had no output from a corrosion film of the commutator surface. They used to sell a cleaner abrasive stick or you use very fine white or tan natural sand paper to lightly clean the brushes and commutator contacts. Do not use silicon...

    My New Gama Goat Project

I have a new in the box Gamma Goat Steering Wheel shaft that I bought for a M35 power steering setup and then had to sell the Deuce. PM me. You need to watch GSA auction site as about 2 months ago a dozen Gamma Goats were fire department turn ins in Oklahoma sale . They were mostly intact some...

    New to me M923A2

You could have hitched something else to the back and do a double haul??? Ha Ha , I rescued a M925a2 from Indianapolis and bought a generator set which we towed home at the same trip. Good luck with the new toy. Mark

    M916A1 'Recovers' V12 COE Peterbilt.

Our local bakery used to run GM tractors with Detroit Diesels in them and you could hear them for at least a mile winding up and down for road turns at about 10:30pm each night some 50 feet from my front porch. What a noise to make the white tail deer run?? Mark

Long time lurker finally got a Deuce

Good luck with the Deuce. You may want to try interviewing the previous owners as to the history of the truck. Lots of VFDs got military surplus vehicles for use and lots of them are being sold as surplus on the GSA auction site right now. M715s, Deuces, and Gamma Goats have been seen in the...

    Headlights going out randomly

Circuit breaker hot may be sign of repeated resetting because of fault in line. Bare wire, bad connector, bad headlight wire socket, bad ground somewhere???? Good luck I hate wires. Mark

    Saying hello from Clearwater FL

Welcome to the madness?!!!!! I suggest reading posts and test driving several different type iron before investing. Insurance, tags, type of driver's license are all question to ponder. Like a dog chasing a car, once you catch a military vehicle, what are you going to do with it???? Good luck...

    Running backwards?

Just as bad is diesel running off on combustible fumes such as dozer or backhoe rupturing gas line and diesel starts running on fumes with no way to throttle down but get equipment out of gas cloud . Same idea happens with the gas soaked rag over the intake to start a diesel. Mark

    S-280 camper build

Back to choice of top color, local Ford dealer was playing with infrared thermometer and measured black and white car side by side. Black car was 30 degrees hotter .I would check out what trailer companies are putting on trailer roof. I believe white is conventional color except for Airstream. Mark

    Alaska to Alabama in Brutus

Friends mechanical Cummings would on trip WVa to Iowa with Howells (?) fuel treatment and quart of ATF per 25 gallons would result in 5 mpg increase in fuel mileage with same truck/load/road as regular fuel. We used cheap ATF brand made no difference. Happy Motoring!!!!!!! Mark

    Considering 5 ton!!

I would suggest a good test drive in a 5 ton to see how they handle and ride. My M925a2 rides like a truck and similar to any big truck it may not suit you. I disagree that M 930 series are prone to break just because they are rated double the weight as a Deuce. You have to check your State...
