I think I'll also use Clint's idea for a switch panel. I have three rotary switches for convoy, wipers, and rear work lights. That's one more of Clint's ideas added to my to-do list!
As for the reverse lights, I did this same mod using instructions from the previously-mentioned thread that...

if you are in the Minnesota or Wisconsin area, please consider bringing your truck to this event. Feel free to bring items you want to sell, as some have said the event is promoting a swap meet as well.

Convoy Light Wiring Instructions from TM
You need the relay. The original relay from the military is called an "engine cutout relay" and is part number 153014. I didn't use that specific relay, as I used a 24 volt relay and relay harness from an online vendor - Jameco. The relay I got from...

Event runs from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a live band that starts at 4:00 p.m.
They want people to bring their military trucks, and they understand that MVs may want to leave before the event ends.
An official event...
I brought my MEP-004A up to Twin Cities Generator in St. Paul, Minnesota to get it load tested this week. I asked them to give the unit a thorough workout and to closely inspect it for any issues.
They tested it for a little over an hour at 60hz and with almost 6,000 watts through each of the...
Flipping the rear hubs is not has hard as it sounds. I'm not a mechanic, not an engineer, not a fabricator, not a welder ... It took me and a friend about four hours to get it done. The process is well documented here on Steel Soldiers as well as by Mike W. at XM381.com.
The fuel gauge in my MEP-004 reads about 1/3 of a tank when I have 10 gallons of fuel in it. Since it's a 15 gallon tank, it should read 2/3 full. I replaced the fuel sending unit in the main fuel tank, part 72-2271 called the "fuel level switch" in the TMs, and that did not fix the problem...
The OP said that BoA does virtually all the international money wire transfers. How do we know if this is a BoA policy/practice as compared to something imposed on BoA by government regulators (as papabear suggested)? Said another way, how do we know other banks would not have done the exact...
I also have an MEP-004A, but I started with a different set of problems. As Hard Head and Guyfang said, the frequency knob on the control panel will not do anything for the MEP-004A. The manual speed control knob under the control panel on the right side is the frequency adjustment, as Guyfang...
MEP-004A - what's this part on the fuel p
Well, I replaced the fuel float in the main tank, and I still have an issue with the gauge reading low. There is 10 gallons of fuel in it, and the gauge reads just over a quarter tank. I'll find a gauge to swap it out and see where I'm at.
My next...
Thanks for all the pictures. It looks like a fun project. For your rust issue, try painting some of this stuff on with a brush and letting it sit a few hours. Wipe it dry with a rag, and then hit it with an orbital sander if you have one.
Thanks for the website referral. None of my local electrical suppl shops had 8/5, so I ordered it from Wire and Cable to Go. Here's another pictures of the spider box:
Here's a shot showing that I replaced two of the three-wire, twist-lock receptacles with two 15/20 amp straight-blade...
So, I've read a bunch of threads here about what I need to use my MEP-802A in a variety of situations. Several people suggest a distribution or "spider box," and that sounded like a great idea to me. Not being very familiar with this type of stuff, I did my research here on SS and on the...
Thank you for the advice, Guyfang. When I bought it, the Government Planet auction page said that it would only stay running while the start/run/stop switch was held in the start position. The troubleshooting section of the TM had this exact problem listed, and it advised to replace relays K1...
Thanks for the tip. When I removed the K1 relay from the control cubicle assembly, I didn't pay attention to which way it was set in the board. The two sides of the relay looked exactly the same, and there was no indication on the generator or in the TM as to which way to put the relay in...
So, I got an MEP-004 from Government Planet about a month ago. It was advertised as non-functional with the problem described as "unit runs only when start/stop switch held in the start position." To me, that sounded like a fixable problem. I won the auction and towed the MEP-004 on the M201...
