Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

Well, today it was 35 degrees here in Minnesota. I got one more item crossed off my to-do list. #3 from my list below was to swap out the tail lights on my M105A2 trailer for a set of LED tail lights that I got from Lt. Dan here on SS. Here's a picture of the new LED tail light: I also...

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

Everybody seems to have an opinion on the difference in power between the C and D turbo. It seems that the majority opinion is that the D turbo has slightly more power, and it is quieter. It's not that I dislike the C turbo, but I do like the idea of slightly more power and quieter.

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

Well, I worked on my truck today in 15 degree weather. The first thing I did was to remove the 18" of snow on the roof, hood, and fenders. I wish I took a picture of the truck before I removed the snow, but I didn't think of it at the time. Then I discovered that I need better batteries. The...

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

Good eye, Clinto! It's close to hitting the corner of the gas tank - but doesn't. There is a spacer plate (11609947) and rubber seal strip (11609948 ) on the rear splash guards that stops and holds the sides when they are lowered.

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

LOL! Yes, I flipped the bumper when the winch was put on. I'll add that to the list!

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

It always looks better at a distance. The CARC has been flaking in places, and I try to sand those areas and refinish them right away. The front edge of the roof and the outside window frame need rust removal and refinishing. It's a never-ending battle ...

Spring 2015 to-do list for the Deuce

Well, winter has finally arrived in Minnesota. In October, we had warmer than normal temperatures. So far, in November, we have colder than normal temperatures. Since my deuce sits outside, projects have come to an end this year. Bummer. Here's a couple recent pictures of my truck for...

Video of front marker light as turn signal Here's a short video of my front marker lights and how they work. http://youtu.be/1czC9y5oBKs Here are a couple pictures of my marker lights. Why just jazz up the Deuce with marker lights? I also installed two amber and two red marker...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Front marker lights as turn signals Ok, so I finished installing the front marker lights on my Deuce. I got two take-off brackets from TNJ Murray that attach the marker lights to the turn signal housing just like on the 5-ton trucks. I then used the relay wiring schematic that I posted in post...

Horn question - Power Steering from M39 series

Thanks a ton, AMGeneral! I do have a male Packard connector hanging loose down by the driver side fender bracket. My guess is that used to plug into the bottom of the Deuce steering column for the horn. I'll run a wire from that up to the box on the steering column as you suggest. I think...

Horn question - Power Steering from M39 series

Ok. I spent some time trying to figure out this horn project again. Here's what I have in the center of the steering wheel. I am guessing it is not what is supposed to be there. At least, this is not what the TMs say should be there. I got a horn button kit from Ted at Real Custom Trucks...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Thanks clinto, I don't want to put two marker lights on each side. I want one marker light to do the job of both - that looks cleaner like you said and is less expensive. The relay system I wired up will do the job of an interrupter. I'm looking for input on which circuit to power the relay...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

So I am still thinking about how to turn the front side-facing marker lights into a dual-purpose light. I want them to stay on all the time when the light switch is in "drive," and then I want them to flash when I use the turn signal. That will give me a front side-facing turn signal light. I...

Speedometer sending unit adapter for 395/85R20 tires

That's great Aaron! Can you tell us which specific part you got? There looks to be a few with the same model number but by different manufactures. I'll try installing the unit I have on Tuesday, and if that doesn't work, I'll know what my backup plan is. Thanks again.

Speedometer sending unit adapter for 395/85R20 tires

Ok. I ordered and received "Ratio Adapter, Speed Up Rate: 20%" that is part number 54RA2+20% from PATC Transmissions. Their phone number is 1-888-201-2066. The part cost $62 plus $8 in shipping with no tax. I have not yet got a chance to install it, as my tuck is parked an hour away. I make...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Relay wiring for dual purpose front marker light Ok. So, I found this relay wiring diagram from a quick Google search. It looks like it would enable the front amber side marker up by the turn signal light to do both (1) always on when the turn signal is not on, and (2) flashing when the turn...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Good source for Grote non-metallic loom NAPA has this stuff, but they have to order it from the manufacturer. They quoted me $52 + $7 in shipping. The best price I found was from Truck Parts Warehouse Online, and they sold it at $35.96 + $7.93 in FedEx shipping. Their phone number is (571)...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Good point, gimpyrobb. Thank you for the great explanation, clinto! I'll follow your same plan for the rear marker lights. I think I'll hook up a relay and a couple diodes so that the front marker lights stay on all the time - with either low beam or high beam. My thought was to tap off low...

Installing marker lights on the Deuce

Marker light circuit taps into #21 service brake light Ok. So after taking a second look, I found that circuit 489 taps into #21 "light switch to service tail lamp." Problem solved. I can't figure out how to delete this thread. If a moderator wants to delete it, that's cool. Thanks for...
