What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

There is no such thing as a civilian dash pad. They're just dash pads.

Chronicle of a tan M1101 trailer purchase from GovLiquidation.com

The one I got that is chronicled in this thread is gone now. I needed to sell it (made about $1K) because I lost my storage space in the garage. I have since picked up another one in the same condition for about $220 less. I would also love to find a cover (or any of the components for the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Thanks to member Shackelford R I finally got some antenna whip elements that actually screw together. I moved the whip over to the driver's side and the Duke over to the passenger. The whip even tied down was hitting low hanging branches along the roadside, so moving it to the left side away...

What did you do to your trailer today.

I pressure washed the M1101 this afternoon, and got very wet doing so. The Pacific Northwet has been doing its thing, and the trailer had a layer of brown mold. All the tie-down pockets were full if dirt, so much so you could barely pull the rings up. I managed to blow all the GovPlanet...

What did you do to your trailer today.

The retaining wall along my driveway wasn't retaining itself anymore, so I used my trailer to haul home a half yard of gravel, then 2000# of block, then another half yard of gravel. I could feel that 2K pounds behind me, made the Hemi work for a change.

    WA registration issues

Your insurance man may be able to work out a depreciated value- after all that's what they'll pay out if you wreck it. I never had any issue but mine was plated when I bought it. The only problem I had was my insurance company refused to believe the VIN. I finally had to take a picture of the...

    Air Horn not fitting

I had a big-rig single trumpet air horn in my Ford Ranger. I shelled the plastic off a cheap air compressor and wired it to a switch on the dash. The air compressor pumped into a tank thru a check valve with a T fitting to a dual needle pressure gauge. One needle told the tank pressure, the...

Very rural junkyard near me, guy commented on mine- said he drove them in the military. Offered him the key and he laughed and showed me the key he still had on his key chain.

    xm389 trailer (1 ton trailer for m37)

Nothing in the database, but given the age of the trailer and contract it was a long shot. The current contract format is much different too. Does it show a NSN?

Any of you guys have your m1009 setup for Overlanding?

The tent weighs about 100# or so. I push it up on top of the truck by myself. The roof can easily hold the weight of the tent and two people inside. Yes, just a standard generic roof rack. Each end of the roof rack is held with three bolts, and the spacing of them is such that one passes...

    M1101 ?'s

Adding some thoughts about aerodynamics. I've towed mine behind the Grand Cherokee at 70mph empty and partially loaded and it towed perfectly. No swaying and no drama. As to any aerodynamic penalty I haven't noticed any at all. Being wider than the jeep allows me to see the running lights...

    M1101 ?'s

I'll start with the standard disclaimer; it's your money and your time; spend them any way you want. From what you've written it sounds to me like you'd save a lot of time and money if you just built the trailer you want from the ground up. That would save a lot of disassembly time- the...

Any of you guys have your m1009 setup for Overlanding?

I don't know what overlanding is but I have UHF and VHF comms (may be adding 10/11 meters soon) and a roof top tent rides on the top during the summer. The fiberglass top is plenty strong enough for the roof rails and the tent.

m1101 light not working when truck door is open

I'm curious why you went with a very expensive adapter, when you could have easily and cheaply disconnected the mil harness back at the first junction underneath and wired in a proper connector that would fit your truck. Are you planning to pull the trailer with a mil vehicle too?
