You can always replace it, but if you don't want to, my procedure is to put it in a warm/hot dry place and let it set till the moisture is driven off. Outside in the sun will probably do it too, but if it leaks now, it probably always will. At the same time, I have had fogged guages function...
You don't need a controller on the steering wheel - its all done with the foot peddel. The single brake line (A1), or the double brake lines (A2).... Who cares? If you don't know and understand the brake system, and are comfortable with it, you don't have any busines driving 20,000# of...
That kind of stuff is highly specilized, and its hard to use in the private sector. Scrap price. If the line was off the drum, and not damaged and coiled nice, it would probably be worth as much as the rest of it.
The "Inter-vehicle cable" is attached to the trailer via junction connectors that are ment to provide an easy change out of the cable, if it becomes dammaged. Otherwise, it would be considered to be permanently attached to the trailer. Its on the left side in the tongue area. There are also ...
You need the return line to run the truck. The DOT black air line is good stuff and will work indefinately. It is also anti-vibration proof. I have had some running as fuel line on a ag tractor for some 20+ years now.
Super set-up. Full tool box too. In the picture where you have all the tyools spread out - what is the thing that looks like a hand crank? What is it used for? Thanks
Welcome aboard. There are plenty of posts on the subject, if you,ll do a little search on the subject. The A2 & 3 have surge brakes. They are great trailers, but there is more room in the back of a Deuce, and they do quite well in the muck! Also search the GL adds for trailers/MV.s
The sides, bows, and tarp, for the 101's are really nice. Unless you have a lot of disposable time and money (especially time), you can buy another trailer that is complete, for not much more, rather then trying to re-invent the wheel. Otherwise just look for a set of rails from somebody that...
My rule is to never ever buy a vehicle that isn't already registered/titled, regardless of what the seller says. They, of course will tell you how easy its going to be to title it, but if it turns into a problem, it will be your problem that can turn into heartburn. Saying its home-made is a...
Trailer Salid --- that's good
They will all carry adequately, much more then their rated capacity. That is refreshing, compared the the civi-ratings..... especilly the ones with the wheel barrow tires on them.
I prefer an electricians Greenlee hole punch, rather then the hole saw for the tie down brackets. The punch for the 3# electrical conduit, actually measures 3.5" They really work slick. They come up on Ebay.
Recovery of a Deuce is a big deal, if things don't go right. Its a big lump, if you have to leave it along the road somewhere. You don't give many details, of what your up to. But having "everything" you need for the recovery, is important. Sometimes having a commercial transporter is...
After soaking the stuck part in your favorite snake oil (or diesel), turn it upside down and patiently go around the part where the lobes are and tappy, tappy, tappy, with a small hammer.
The neck and tank were galvanized (zinc) or tin coated. Probably galvanized. If the accumulation of white...
To have that wheel bearing that loose, I'm surprised that the seal wasn't leaking. Was there adequate lube/grease in there for the bearings, when you re tightened the bearing?
Rule of thumb..... 150 F is about what you can hold your hand on, if you really grit your teeth. How does that temp compare with other components/differentials? 150 is NOT hot for a differential - on highway, summertime, normal pulling operations, they can and do run at 500F. If you stick...
The exposed liability of BBQ joints with pmramsey is well worth the risk. You'll be exposed to a wealth of information, that way.
You got the wrong trailer for your MEP-003 project, though. The 116 version is more then adequate to handle the MEP & tank. OH-WELL..... you'll just have to get...
That tank is zinc or tin coated. If you weld it, it will burn the finish back even more, not to mention warping/distorting it. Best bet, and simplest is to solder the pin hole shut. A copper solder iron will do wonders. Clean around the pin holes with scratch cloth & use acid core solder...
I don't know what happens to the pins, but this is where you should put it, if need be. You might have to pull the pintle forward to get it in there. In a pinch, a phillips screw driver will do the trick. Check the fluid level in the master cylinder - it takes DOT 5/Silicone brake fluid...
