Could not have said it better myself, I have a M915 with a CAT and it'll run @ 75mph flat out governed at 2100 and at 65mph its around 1700-1800 rpm which is really nice. I rode in my buddies M915A1 the other day and although its quick on the take-off it felt like I was in a deuce running down...
I think this is what he is talking about. If you where to put a non overdrive Allison in a 916 or 920 it would be painfully slow. I think the 915A1's are nice trucks but they should have put an overdrive in them, 62mph flat out is too slow for me...
I'm not sure what it went for, I'll check the past bid results in the morning and find out. Do you happen to know the Allison # for the tranny that is in your truck?
Since the lots ended today its safe to ask about the truck that had a push button shifter. Anyone else see that? Where there some trucks retrofitted to a different allison than whats in the 915a1? It had 6 push buttons and maybe a couple switches above them.
I had mine repaired at a local alternator/starter shop, they had the parts in stock and it only cost $45. The Leece-Neville is a real common generator, but the 24 volt transformer/rectifier bolted to the rear is not as common.
Don't let all the GL bashing threads get you down, most of the time the problems are buyer induced. As long as you get your payment made and EUC filled out on time you'll be good to go.
Hoopsoft lives in the Purcell/Slaughterville area and he has a 915, I live in Tuttle and have one also. I just sold a 915 to DonkDonk and he is from Norman and has a shop on I35 near I240 where he builds bobbed dueces. Welcome!
Equal is a balancing powder, I've used it before in my crawler tires but I have since went back to golf balls.....cheaper, easier to get when I need them, and works real well.
I may try the Centramatic balancers on my 915, I have heard great reveiws on them...
I wouldnt say special but it got me out of a bind when I found out that my feet would not work. I simply took the feet off my bar and pined the bar to the d rings. It got the truck home with no problems but it moves around a little bit and you can feel a small amount of slack when you get off...
For me it came down to what I needed, I couldnt be any more happy with my 915. Having a 6x6, a pusher axles or a winch is not important to me, plus the gearing in the 916's and 920's are too low for regular highway use, so regearing them would be added expense on top of their inflated auction...
