    park brake

I haven't even crawled under this thing yet to find out the problem, but our parking brake on our 5 ton does not work. The knob on the end of the handle is very tight (stuck) but it will not hold the truck. Anybody have any pointers on this?? Will this brake hold this truck on much of a grade...

how many miles do these things last?

Our M813 is showing 11,800 miles and 1,200 hours. The tag on the door said it was rebuilt in 93. I've often wondered the same thing and hope that this truck will last our department many years. One reason for us buying this 813 was for the rough and tough conditions that our brush fire trucks...

    Soda blasting

Clinto, I am glad you said that !! I forgot to mention that this man said that soda would not warp the metal. I was thinking that 2 large bills was a good price or at least "fair" in that I'm not making much headway at the pace that I am going and I would like to get this thing done in a fairly...

    Soda blasting

After much sweat and tears with a wire wheel and DA sander, I have opted to check into other measures on prepping this truck for a decent paintjob. We have an M813 and somebody said that soda blasting was a very good tool and that it would not do the harm that sandblasting would. Of course, the...

    Being on the road

I'll tell you one thing, This group is a bunch of tightly knit people who care about one another as if it were one big family. I have only been a member for a couple of months but see that the outpour of knowledge and support from the members is overwhelming. Although I have owned a deuce in the...

    5 ton injectors

Was wondering if anyone had done a "turn-up" on their injector on the Cummins 250. Our truck runs about 53 empty and was wondering if it would be necessary to turn up the fuel in order to maintain that speed after we add 1,200 gallons of water in the bed. The truck runs about 2,100 to 2,200 rpm...

    Got Some Technical Difficulty ??s

I'd be happy just getting the arms off of the wiper motor shaft. I took the screw off but can't seem to pull the arm off of the shaft. What am i doing wrong ? ? ? I don't want to destroy it getting it loose.
