I only see one problem............ you did not park the trailer on my farm. I can give directions HA HA. Good modification and reuse of GI old iron. Mark
If you are sewing do not make too fine a stitch too close to the repair. I had a truck seat recovered and the upholstery man used too many stitches per inch and the fabric was "cut" by the needles holes and it tore and did not last long. Good luck Mark
Welcome looks like a good combo with Jeep and trailer. Lots of people out there with ideas on campers, bug out shells, work trailers. I have several trailers Uncle Sam built odd one is a M105 style with headache , no sides but tarp hoops, must have had generator mounted on 1/4 plate floor. I...
Sorry you had the set back on your progress on the Rat Rod project. Your idea beats the low riders with military rubber stuck at each end. I have seen Jeeps, M35, m37 and Korean war 6x6 slammed to the ground with tires sticking out both ends. I have not got excited and got out the cutting torch...
Before you get a big gun and put holes in the block , try pulling the head carefully and study the head gasket carefully for shadows ,paths for fluid bypass. Some cylinder cracks can be cured with new liner or sleeve the block. Lots of engines can be salvaged without full rebuild. I rebuilt...
Welcome from West Virginia! Do a lot of reading and test drive any motor vehicle before you bite the bullet and own a 5 ton wrecker and your parking place will not fit a Smart car.
Are you going to recycle the body? Hope it was aluminum, a friend of mine sharpened the inside of a chain hook and tied a van body to a tree and tied the chain to a dozer and used the hook like a can opener. He had several hundred dollars of sheet stock to sell real fast. Mark
You can fine tune springs with adding or removing leaves to suit your duty. I had a 1977 Jeep pick up that would not haul sh#t but with 3/4 ton Chevy springs on rear and 18" stretch on frame and the truck could haul 2 to 3 tons of rock with no problems. I think Hot Rod magazine or Street...
Good find and good luck fixing her up. Our local VFD had a M37 with winch which served Department well as a do all. You had to have a two weeks prior notice to get to a fire scene while the coals were still hot as She was slow on the road and the brake shoes are narrow and not much in the...
you can double check swaps with a interchange parts book or a friendly auto salvage yard which can tell you what swaps will work. Best to have VIN number with you. Mark
Saw a WWII British movie where winch truck rescued a light tank in a farm field. They pounded in iron pins with sledge hammers and laced snatch blocks to a main pulling block to move the tank. I would put a small clevis and a short chain on the back of the plow beam to pull the anchor out...
I had to keep a straight face when my boy was driving his lawn tractor(no mower deck and slow drive pulley) around the barn lot when he made a lap STEERING WITH HIS FEET WITH HIS HANDS FOLDED BEHIND HIS HEAD AND LEANED WAY BACK. He got to learn how to park. A friend and her sister used to borrow...
Welcome from the hills of West Virginia. Be careful of green disease as my yard looks like a Army Depo lot with Deuce, 5 ton, MKT food trailer, generator set, you get the idea. Have fun. Mark
I would suggest you get a oil analysis kit from a big truck or heavy equipment dealer and have the engine and transmission oil tested. You can learn a lot by oil condition, bearing material , coolant and unburned fuel in the oil by testing. A test here costs $15.00. Mark
I like the shifter box. Hope it is not a shin eater like my M925a2 shifter with pto winch controls that is right where my leg wants to occupy. I am 6'4" and the truck is cramped for me and do not get me started on trying the pedals in a Deuce with the petals in the up position. Good job on your...
You may want to get some exhaust pipe wrap from a stock car supply site and wrap the exhaust under the hood. You need to put down a rag rug or something on the floor as the sheet metal will get hot from the engine compartment and turn into a mini oven on your side. I have a S 10 truck with no...
