The install was really pretty easy - drilling the hole in the dash was the hardest part I thought. They adjusted out pretty quickly. I haven't used them yet, because I have to order new blades - unless somebody knows the Anco part numbers for the arm/blade upgrade. My air wipers did just the...
Knocked out a few more upgrades today:
- I installed a new 2.5# Amerex fire extinguisher and bracket on top of the tunnel beside the shifter. I also removed the old bracket from the side of the tunnel.
- I upgraded the windshield wipers to electric ones off of an a3. Fairly easy upgrade - the...
I knocked out a few thing that I have been wanting to do:
- I upgraded my old rusty battery box to the plastic type that I bought at the Georgia rally. I heard that the Group 31 batteries wouldn't fit, but they do if you remove the locking handle screws and install them from the inside - at...
Hey Ralph, how did you do your battery connections? I converted ours to the civvy 24v alternator and also bought the 12v brackets at the same time, but haven't installed it yet. I was thinking about adding a fuse block under the dash or hood.
Looks like you have an excellent starting point with your 'a1!
A few things that popped out at me:
1)Definitely need a game plan. Figure out how far you want to restore it before testing down. Trust me - it cost me about 13yrs when I tore mine down (because I wanted to sandblast the frame and...
Home Depot is always fun! I usually park pretty far away from other vehicles at the back of the lot. Almost every time I come back out there is someone looking at it - usually a father and son on the weekends. Of course, this always leads into talking about the truck and burning up my allotted...
Are you talking about the cable gimp? The cable has a grease fitting for the whale tail type, but the lever doesn't. The new style lever is greaseable - I don't know about the cable.
If you change to the newer style, you will have to change the cable also - they are different. I also hear that the newer style catches the seat of your pants when entering/exiting the truck.
Yeah, we ride ATVs at Brown Mtn a couple of years ago. I HATE ROCKS! Like you said, the main road up and back would be all that the vehicles would be able to do there.
Denton rally is always around Easter - just throwing that out there. Denton isn't an official Steel Soldiers rally (it is hosted by MVPA guys and have re enactors also), even though 50-75% that show up are Steel Soldiers.
However you want to take it. I thought I was being a good guy trying to pick up the items I had promised to buy in a timely manner.
Site Admins: Please remove my previous posts about this matter. Thanks! My last post on the subject also.
Not tow lights. Not going to call anybody out - just saying if you are a vendor, 1)be there most of the time, 2)leave a representative there to sell for you, or at the minimum,
3)leave a note as to when you will return.
I was trying to buy, but the person was not there to buy from, and didn't...
Great idea about marking where the vendors are located! I bugged Kenny quite a few times trying to locate where to pick up parts from different people. I spent at least the first 5hrs after getting there running back and forth trying to locate a track down vendors - thanks for the help Kenny!
I...
Did anyone get a picture of Tigger's memorial? I signed the poster, but my daughter had me distracted asking all about Tigger, so I forgot to take one.
I agree. I don't know about the snow part - I love driving my Jeep in the snow, but getting it there would be a problem. A rally in the summer wouldn't be too good either - it was hot enough at the Georgia rally this weekend!
