Great truck!
Looks like you got a very straight truck there! Doing nice work on the resto also! Keep us updated.[thumbzup] (I'm jealous too, I could only drool over those trucks on auction)
Welcome
Welcome aboard from Mississippi! Keep us posted on your search! Best wishes on your hunt for an MV. Keep in mind if you look closely enough, you may be surprised at the low prices you may stumble upon out there.
Crude but better dash cover
Dash was chewed up by a lion or some other critter before I got it, sacrificed two heavy duty chemical aprons I've had laying around in the shop for years and made a "cover". It works, it's covered, it's cleaner looking, and no it isn't factory, and no it isn't being...
It seems they would want to sell them at whatever the highest bid is so they can get rid of them since there are so many. I also noticed there were 96 lots, then it changed to 54 lots at about the same time they changed to sealed bidz. I almost opened my piggy bank and bid but got skeered...
Nice !
Congratulations! Beautiful truck. I drove an M813 ("B-43", Bravo Battery, 3/35 Field Artillery) in Germany from 86-88 and miss it like crazy! Maybe some day............
Looks like all the metal is pretty straight and definitely not rusty! Blast it, rewire it, paint it, drive it......sounds easy I know, but rusty ones are expensive down this way. Good find, and best wishes with the build!
....removed the antenna mount, boxed it up for shipment to a fellow SS member along with the dash mount plate and antenna retainer clip/rope. The antenna mount was a BEAST to remove. Had to grind the heads off the bolts! Now I got a few holes to fill when I start the body work.....more to come
I like that look also. I googled some longbed Chevy's and for sure 1980 Chevy's were available in longbed stepside, possibly more year models from the 80's. Maybe you can find a bed if you dig deep enough on the web. Finding one seems much harder than actually making the swap. If someone does...
.....just got in from work Friday night, was out tinkering with the 1009 this morning before Church. The Blackout Drive light wasn't working, all the Blackout markers were fine. I decided to just remove the cover on the main drive light...........IT WAS COMPLETELY FULL OF MUD!! I cleaned out...
Planning on it SOON
I got my 1009 about a week before I came back across the pond to work. Pretty much just tinkered around with it before I came back over. Been here a month now, headed home tomorrow. It's the first item on my "MV to-do" list. Reason? Reading everyone else's reasons is reason...
Hoping I won't have to do that, but it's not out of the question. The location is only about an hour and a half from home. A step deck is definitely available tho. Thanks
Thanks, I searched everywhere I could, just learning to find my way around here. I thought I checked all the possibile posts. I'll spend more time searching for anything linked to my questions from now on before I ask.
Been looking at 931's at GL. I've noticed on MANY of them, it will say "right rear wheel locked", or "right intermediate wheel locked", or similar. On some, both rears on one side are locked. I realize this is from the truck sitting, but is it something that can be temporarily repaired in the...
NICE !! I just hope my 1009 will look half that good when I finish. When you get it finished it will be BETTER than new! Thanks for the photos and thanks for sharing this build. Excellent job!
