I like the 8D bus battery x2...1400cca each, the 250 Cummins loved them. Oreilly sold them at around $210/ and will take one 6TA for the core. To fit them the tie down mounts have to be removed and use shims to hold them tight side to side, including the top so terminals don't get into seat...
Seemed like every truck I had, I had to replace batteries. I used the big 1400 8D and there was no room for the part to stick inside the box. Your's probably has more room.
I've found that the spring is 47" from center of pin to center of pin, not as I said earlier, 48". I measured on the M105 frame and the four mounting bolts are 46.5" center to center. It brings up the question, what if any angle should the shackle have? Should an unloaded spring have more...
I see you have 2 types, one visible from the side and one visible from the front or top. Most I have found have both and I don't necessarily want both. For the military turn lights, the top chips look like they work well. Good find.
I was going to replace mine on my A3 with military but...
Diverting from the suspension to a hinge for the frame of the M105 bed, so I can add lift later to make it dump. Frame will bolt down to begin with. I'll be welding the tabs to the back cross member too.
Looks really nice. I wanted to protect my radiator a bit more so did this. It's aluminum expanded metal...something like it would look really nice on that black grill of yours.
Finishing up the M105 springs for the A3 4x4 project. It's a PITA to clean and paint each leaf. Having enough patience to wait for the paint to dry was an issue...I'm not in a warm shop. I used aluminum paint for assembly between them. Removed 3 leafs and mounted air bag. The bag is offset...
Here is a before cleanup photo of the saddle and perch welded up and the assembly with the air bag. The short square tube is 3 1/2", which is the same size as the axle housing. I don't know if I needed it for sure, but I put a weep hole through the big block so water that might go in around...
The double frame they are referring to is using a section from an M105 trailer with the spring mounts and all when making a deuce 4x4. It's not done with both axles. The frame of an M105 is 5" thick, so adds 5" of height without having blocks between the axle and spring that are (when tall)...
I'm using 1/4" plate made to an L that is 11" x 3" X 10' long, plating the entire length of the frame (outside). That is 3" below the 8" so the perch or lift kit does not need to be near as high. It's a lot of work stripping the frame of everything, but I wanted the reinforcement all the way...
The ballistic nylon can be glued with H-66 nice from what I have read (and will try soon). I'm wondering about lap joints where its glued together at the seams ???
I don't know it's resistance to oil and grease....but don't weld around it as it don't like (red) hot metal, being a plastic.
My bags came, some machining will be done (large hole drilling) and the new U bolts should be here tomorrow. The second spring pack is together. I'm looking at the possibility of putting 2 or 4 shocks in a V that mount to the bag base on the outside of the frame now. My (2) shocks on hand are...
That sounds reasonable letssled. I moved my project to this thread;

Check out post number 8. I calculated the pinion angle using no or parallel blocks for the perch with the 105 springs and...
Yea, that would be it. The dark green is close to 383 green and the earth brown is close to the 383 Brown. There are a couple of tans too. I have not used enough of the black, but hope it has the blue component to match the current black (like when mixing it by Behr). They make up the 3 colors...
Assuming my spring pack is typical M105A2, here is a little geometry of the spring. I think mine were close to new or mostly un-used, so not worn or stressed out.
It is 47" center of the pin to center of the pen and half that, 23.5" to the alignment bolt. All leafs are symmetrical, that I...
Thanks Chris, I have some "Lubri-Plate" someplace and a couple quarts of different size graphite that I used to experiment with but haven't seen recently.
The can of aluminum paint, about 1/3 full, had a huge amount of solid in the bottom from setting. When I mixed it up, it was like a thin...
