    Manual glow plug wiring

Hello. I would suggest to start with downloading the wiring diagram. That way you can see what is supposed to be there and what was added by the PO.

M1008 GP wait light stays on.

I found the part number for the new sensor. GM part #1551107. You will also need a new connector. Just today I went to start my M1009 and no wait light. Went through the TM troubleshooting and I need a new sensor. I looked up the part number in the TM and it gives the old part number.

M1008 GP wait light stays on.

Hello. I had the same issue when I got my M1009 last year. It turned out to be a bad GP controller. There is a member on this site that makes and sells new ones. Antennaclimber. Also, look at the TM's, it covers the troubleshooting procedure.

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately - Part 2

Replaced right inner fender on my M1009. I found an original GM one in South Carolina when the wife and I were on vacation. I replaced the left one with a reproduction inner fender. I have to say the original GM one went in MUCH easier. I made some battery tray braces from 18ga sheet metal and...

    Fuel Gauge 12v

I have had some electrical issues with my instrument cluster as well. I replaced the printed "circuit board" d/t the old one had some broken connections within the board. My issue was gen 2 light was inop, so that made gen 2 inop. Before this my fuel gauge was inaccurate. After replacing the...

CUCV manual glow plug switch install issue

I agree 100% with just buying a new glow plug controller. I bought my M1009 and it had a manual push button. One of the first things I did was remove it, replaced the controller, and relay, and truck starts very well. The coldest I started it was about 12 degrees, fired right up!

Sending unit? Gauge? Fuel needle confusion...

When I replaced the printed circuit board on my M1009 the fuel gauge starting working properly. I did not replace the printed circuit board just because the fuel gauge was wrong, I was having Gen 2 issues. Maybe the connections for the gauge into the circuit board/instrument cluster are in need...

    Parts in hub assembly

I ordered part #10 in diagram. When installed, with #9 snap ring, the washer, #10, OD is smaller then the lock ring #11 ID, so it can not be to keep the lock ring on were it to come loose. I can only think its purpose is too keep the axle shaft from moving in/out too much. But, there is always...

    M1009 won't start without help

Hello all. This brings a question to mind I have had and have spent more than a few hours looking for. Are there any threads on converting from 12 back to 24 volts? I have found this mentioned only a few times. If there are any threads about this I have missed them and apologize for missing...

Gen 2 light / Alternator trouble fixed the hard way

Hello. I had the same problem. The printed circuit "board" on the back of my instrument cluster was bad, so power was not getting to Gen 2 bulb. LMC truck has them, I ordered one, it is perfect fit. Part #38-3086. There is also diode in the Gen 2 circuit that may be bad. If you do take your...

    Parts in hub assembly

If you need part 10 in the diagram Equipment parts Sales has them. $2.00 each, NOS parts, 14072921, spacer, ring. I assume the retaining ring(snap ring) could be had at a hardware store.

    Charging system problem

LMC part number 38-8036, printed circuit w/o gauges. LMC does not have the instrument cluster "backing plate", or case , the teal/green plastic part. I ordered one that they said would work, but wrong one, and LMC does not stock the right one. I have not found anyone who does stock them. Be very...

    Charging system problem

VICTORY!! I replaced the printed circuit board for the instrument cluster, from LMC truck, perfect match, and all is well. Gen 2 light comes on when key turned to run, when wait light goes out, start engine and Gen light goes out and Gen 2 charging ~14.5 volts. Thank you to everyone who replied!

    Charging system problem

OK. Update. I have continuity from orange wire that feeds gen 2 light from fuse box to plug for instrument cluster, and for brown/red wire from instrument cluster connector to gen 2 relay, I will check brown/wht wire from relay to connector at alternator next. But I think I found the problem...

    Charging system problem

I am getting close. I jumped 12v to the brown/wht wire at the alternator(the schematic says just brown, but mine is brn/wht) with the vehicle running for just a few seconds. The reading on my multimeter started out at about 13.5 then slowly rose to ~14.5 and leveled there. I let the truck run...

    Charging system problem

I did not do the conversion. I have not done anything except check to see if any voltage at the brown wire with key on, connector unplugged. I am going to do the checks mentioned later in this post.

    Charging system problem

I am having the same issue. The m1009 I have has been converted to 12V. I am planning on going back to 24 V. I only have the passenger side gen 2. For now I would like to be able to drive and enjoy the truck. I am not getting any voltage at the brown wire of the voltage regulator connector, with...
