The disc brake swap is more down the line for projects on the rig.
First and foremost is gonna be disassemble the cab for repaint and getting prepped for its extension.
I am already in the process of stripping the rims and repainting them gloss black.
I have been looking for hemtt rims for my...
Thanks for the encouragement!
One of my big questions is this.
I am looking to do a disc brake conversion front and rear. I have researched and found that some older F700 front disc brakes fit the same bolt pattern and would just need some machining to fit over the centre hub flange.
Has any one...
My plan is to push the second axle back to the pivot point of the tandem set up. I agree that most bobbers look a little to bobbed when they are just chopped behind the second axle. Makes them look as as if they were hit from the ass end and every thing was squeezed on after the cab.
I am...
Ok let me rephrase my post.
I am looking to do a bobber on my M135 since there are so many stock parts missing on my rig.
I am wondering if anyone has done a bobber on a M135 yet?
Any advice out there?
I have read most of the bobber posts on the site but a lot of them don't go into to great of...
Ok so I have a 1955 M135, that I bought couple months ago, and have found that the motoe is pretty much a waste of space under the hood since it is seized.
I have been in the ssssllloooooowww, process of stripping the rims and repainting them gloss black since the old paint was essentially not...
I am not really wanting to have to alter the cab if I can get away with it.
I am only considering the 4BT engine since it is relatively ease to increase the horse power on these engines, just the same as a 6BT, it is the short version.
I do have an old GMC duallly 4x4 with a manual tranny in it...

Just a quick thought here.
I own a 1955 M135 and am also pondering a repower since my old 302 is missing lots of parts and is seized.
I am currently looking to swap the ring and pinion to a numerically smaller ratio.
The part numbers for the sets are H110. Think they were made by EATON.
At...
I have 11.oox20's on my rig at the moment. 395's wont fit on the stock rims since they are only 7.5 inches. 395/85/20r's are a mininmum of 10 inch rim width for mounting. I wish i could get 395's for 200 bucks!! Up here in canada the cheapest I can find them for is 400 to 500. Five hundrend or...
That's awesome!! I could find most of the other info but the actual ring diameter! Thanks Gunfreak25!!!
I have sourced a dealer who I believe is based in the states who sells all sizes of those rings.
Section8 is in reference to the tv series *MASH*.
Which is where I fell in love with seeing...
Ok. How do I find out the inside and outside diameters of my ring and pinion in my axles. I know they are geared 6.17!!!!! I can't find anything on the net to get the actual specs on the sizes of them and the carrier. The tech manual on the site is either down or to larger for me to download.
I...
I may try to let it soak in the old school method i have learned from mechanics I have talked to about seized engines, since my tractor from 1948, had a seized engine. Talked to three mechanics and they all said if you dont want to tear it apart to find nothing wrong then pour about a half cup...
Yes that is a receptacle on the passenger side just behind the fender at the bottom of the cowl and between fender and door. It has been hit or stepped on at some point pulling the bolts through the sheet metal. I think that there was another receptacle on the left top side of the radiator mount...
I posted my pics of the truck in my photo album. Have a gander and shake your head or go oooh and aww! What ever turns your wheels. Again if you see a part you llike or need let me know since it seems i am going to have to do a drive train swap.
Oh and I am NOT letting that crappy brushed on...
Sorry for the double post last time! computers and i dont get along. Ok. here is the low down now. I gave the old girl a better look over yestarday since i made time for it, working, farming and running a business take most of my time.

Newbie M135 adventures/ engine woes.
Wow! Thanks for all the tid bits of info! I never expected to get so much info and helpful hints!
Ok! Here is the low down. The engine bay is completely devoid of wiring and hoses. Due to scavaging for the copper and getting ready to be scrapped. The 302 is...

I saw the radiator was missing. took the old mans word that the engine was a runner. didnt get a chance to give it a good look over. seen it sitting as i went by going to work. the old fella has lots of parts and other trucks on his lot, assumed he knew it was a good motor. I am gonna start my...
I guess i am gonna have to possibly scrap the whole idea here. untill i can either find some replacement gears or save enough to have them made.:deadhorse:!!! Bigger issues needed first i guess such as drive train!!:(!! The front lines of the fight are being established!! Lets see what...
