I have tried it once and was successful, but I was also using a cheapo brake line bending tool. It was so cheap it was kinking the line, so I filled it with sand, capped the ends and it bent without kinking.
Take the copper line and fill it with fine dry sand. Then try to bend it, the sand should prevent the copper line from kinking. The clean the line out and install. I should add, when you fill the line with dry sand, pack it in as tight as you can and make sure both ends of the line are...
Of course it IS your truck. Paint whatever you want on it. Nobody ever said it has to be "correct" unit markings. Put the 28th on it and the 121st, or whatever helps you honor the memory of your family.

Yes the left side (passenger side on the front and drivers side on the back) should be the Division and Battalion, the Right side should be the company (A,B,C,D, E) and then the truck number.
My C turbo does not whistle until the truck is warm or the motor is revved over 1000 RPM. Once it is warm the darn thing whistles more than a construction worker at a beauty pageant.
Plain OD green. Most vehicles are shipped from the manufacturer plain OD green and then painted to unit specs once they arrive at their final destination.
I would just paint it green and call it done
