If they are 9 inches wide then no problem. If they are narrower than that they can cause serious balance issues. This is because they can shift on the wheel. They could also damage the valve stem and damage the inside of the tire by spinning on the wheel from inertia since the 2 beads...
If you haven't noticed the actual level raising then it probably isn't leaking in. My oil level got 3 or 4 quarts higher than full twice. Once when I first got the truck and I didn't know any better and then after I changed the oil the first time I noticed it. Which prompted me to fix it.
There are several places that can leak fuel into the engine oil. The fdc if you have one (my truck doesn't). The HH plunger. The HH o rings. The fuel control rod o ring. Also, the booster pump seal can fail.
I wonder if fuel isn't starting to bypass the hydraulic head from wear. Also do a compression test. One of your head gaskets may be starting to fail and loose compression. Or some other problem leading to low compression. It will at least tell you if it is your engine or fuel system causing...
Priced a fabco or marmon Herrington transfer case recently? You will be looking at $2000 plus for a used one. Not trying to shoot you down but your project is getting rather expensive for a deuce project. But if you have the money then go for it.
