Just received the latest issue of MVM.
Glad to see an article on the M880's
Unfortuately it contains several inaccuracies. :(
including but not limited to;
2wheel drive operation, sorry they are full time 4x4 (the M890 series were 2wd, but the article was talking about the 4x4)
16 inch wheels...
I've been on a mission of sorts to get this M880 ready to take over for the M882. (See "It followed me home" thread)
Things other than the weather have been going smoothly on this project, for the most part.
Decided to switch hoods with a real nice civilian one, Was able to straighten the...
I'm getting ready to paint the (new) M880. Going the 4 color winter pattern like my M882 / McGuyver's.
Do you lay out the pattern on the truck or just 'freehand' the pattern from the pictures / patterns?
Here it is in the back yard still on the trailer.
Let the work begin!
1st I'll get that red primer  covered up with some olive drab
Then transfer the wheels & tires, hitch & other goods from the M882
The troop seats & top bows off the parts M882. Then piece the other M882 back together...

Ok it's been a month & no one has posted here :?
The cab mounts / floor and many other parts of my M882 have lost the rust battle. I want a rust free body for it. Problem is I can't afford it
So I've been giving some thought about...................
Trading my rare M886 for a rust...
The M886 needs tires. I can get BF Goodrich All Terrain T/A's in a 31-10.50R16.5
The original 9.50-16.5 are pretty close to 31".
I could also take the wheels & 285/75R16 (33-11.50) Mud Rovers off the M882
and get new 33-12.50R16's Mud Rovers for the M882 putting them on some 10" wide rims like...
Someone was looking for M1008 CUCV info on another site, so I clicked over to Steel Soldiers to get him the link.
Then I look around on the main site, and look some more, and
No mention of the original CUCV, yep that's right the M880 series! You know the truck that broke the ground for the...
Been toying with the Idea of a MV get together here in the Huron National Forest.
The forest service has some 2-track areas with 'Primative Camping' sites (i.e. dig your latrine, pack in your water & bring a flashlight) along & near the AuSable River Each site alows 2 or 3 tents or campers...
I bought it for the troop seats & top bows.
Not sure if I'm gonna part it out or ?

Introduced myself on the M880 board a while back.
My 1st MV was and is a 1944 GPW
GPW205720
Have some info posted on www.GPW.da.ru
This June 44 GPW was turned over to the British Army way back when. The British rebuilt this jeep back in 1953 in Germany and they retired it from active duty in...
My M886 needs tires due to dry rot.
If I climb out of this financial hole before someone buys the M886 I'm gonna need tires for it.
16.5" tires are getting extemily hard to come by. I was thinking of putting 16's on it. Right now I have a set of used 16 inch truck tires but no rims yet.
I was...
