I figured I would run it past here to see if I missed anything.
I picked up an almost new (less that 200 hours tops) Onan motor that was blowing a great deal of oil out of the #2 cylinder.
I took the head off, gasket is fine.
After digging more I found that someone ran gas in it, not sure the...
Does anyone have a good source for engine parts, I am rebuilding an onan 4 cylinder with 27 hours on it that somebody decided to see if it would run on gas (UGH)
Some I have found but one thing I really need is a few valve keeper locks, they like to fly across the room.
Thanks
Just an FYI, GL has been selling off some new engines for MEP-803As, I got one for just a few hundred. The wife asked why the heck I needed one and the "you never know if you will need it so why not get it while the getting is good" was enough to get her to let me spend yet more money.
I am...
My M998 was refurbished at the Maine RS maintenance center and it would be nice to see if they have and or will provide any records.
Does anyone have a contact up there or the best number to call prior to just taking a google shot in the dark at the various numbers listed.
Thanks
I got an email from GL that they now offer financing through Kabbage. Wow, sounds like a good idea.
Figured I would take a look through it as I like to see..
One of the last steps is them asking you to provide your online login information to your bank.
Are they out of their minds? ? ...
I was out at Chambersburg yesterday to pick up my 803 and was looking over what they had there. I saw many that had the tier 2 reset tag on them. One thing I did not understand and was hoping someone here knew. They would say, hours reset to and it would have something like 2.2 or 2.5 yet most...
Went to chambersburg to pick up my M803 today. Two things. First it was an hour wait outside the gate across the road before I got help. Second ..... Wait for it... My generator had been given to someone else. UGH they better make this right
As I am working on all the little things on my M1038 I noticed that on the valve cover it has an engine rebuild data plate.
I have looked high and low for what all the things mean.
One line is piston 30 and I assume that means that the cylinders were bored out and have 30 over piston and rings...
Working on tracking down some exhaust smoke issues.
When I start up I get a little white smoke, research on that seems to be un burnt fuel, maybe glow plugs, not too worried.
The one I am worried about is when I accelerate I get a good deal of smoke out. It is not really dark smoke but still...
I am having an issue with my drivers side brake light. The right one works fine but the left one is very dim. I replaced the light switch to start. No luck. I tried 3 different LED tail lights. Same thing. Turn signal works fine. Hazard light works fine. Just the brake light. I tested the...
After a great deal of work it is finally done. 1985 Titled M1038.
I quickly realized for every one thing I fixed I found two more things that I needed to do.
Big thanks to T.J. Murray for all the work they did and the great paint job.
The before and after speaks for itself...
If you are changing the axle seals on your 5 ton, one thing you will need is a 5" ish socket for the nut that goes up against the bearing.
Having a machine shop in the basement I made one for myself.
If anyone is in need of one or wants it for their tool collection contact me.
I am going to...
First off: Read through the TM's and did a search here so plase do not give the generic, go read the TM
Last weekend I replaced the axle seals on my front, rear left.
After which things seemed to be ok, the oil stopped leaking out. I put about 40 PSI in the tire. When I started it up and tried...
I did some looking and most posts seem to go off topic pretty fast about things.
My M923A2 ran fine then I took a good 40 mile trip (enough to get the brakes nice and warm), later that day I noticed what was almost as thick as grease which had come out of the inside of the brake housing.
I did...
Well after a few setbacks I finally got my truck on the road "legally"
I got a nice 92 with only 6565m/300h.
Has some rust issues but that will be addressed...
Lucky for me even my wife loves driving it, I am blessed with a wife that puts up with me.
A few things to pass on about inspection in...
I just got my M923A2 this weekend and will be starting a ground up cosmetic restore on it.
With that said, I have a full machine shop in my basement which I do custon work for people.
If there is anyone in the Delaware area that needs welding work done, stop on by.
If you bring it here I will...
