    Truck Pulling to Right

what is circumference of tires? same size group and same tread depth may mean nothing with two different manufactures, even if it is to a gov't spec. the other thing to look at is rear suspension, a misalignment in the rear can cause the truck to turn one way or another(check the dog bones for...

    Parking Brake Rivets

Thanks, I can't remember what store it was, but someone had 100 rivets for $10, but it was $18 to ship, so I went ebay for the last set. Might do the same if shipping is just as expensive

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

Well, I apparently got one frozen adjuster on the bottom. Moves maybe 1/4 turn. But there isn't a huge gap between the shoe and drum. I might let it slide. Or I may tear it all down. This wheel didn't require all that much adjustment, and I do know one set of shoes was thicker, so probably was...

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

thanks for input, Well this is what I did, adjusted bottom out, then adjusted top till I felt the brake drag, then let out on the bottom a little, kept moving top out, till I got a .015" gap on top, check bottom to .015" back to top, adjust to .015" if needed Don't know if because I had set...

    Parking Brake Rivets

7-8 Rivets DO NOT work, too long, also head is small, but an 8-9 is the smallest for the next head size(where 9 is 9/16"), in 3/16 diameter:shrugs: I'll keep searching, a 3/8 inch rivet should be plenty long enough so a 7-6 would work, but would really like to find a 8-6

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

So I am trying to adjust the brakes, but am getting nowhere. I've tried reading up more on it but I got the same results. So I did the following on both wheels- Went from the left bottom to top, .010" on bottom, .020" on top-can't turn drum, back off, go to bottom, smaller then .010(didn't...

    Parking Brake Rivets

I must have missed it, but re-re-reading the parts manuals, found a reference to 3/16 x 1/2 rivet, so a 7-8, I'll post back if they work

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

one down, 5 to go After packing the bearings, I filled the hub with about a pound of grease, and coated the spindle, I do still have to adjust the brakes being I haven't flushed the system yet. I believe the TM calls for adjusted brakes before bearing adjustment, but I know a couple old timers...

    Whats it worth ?

well, area does play a good deal on price, but I paid $1,400 for mine, it had decent tires, top, pretty much all mint looks wise, engine turned free, but needed a wiring harness(which was included) now I have since been going through the brakes, and fluids, and some other general maintenance...

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

started work on the front rear wheel, had to cause I forgot which way the the spring retainer went on for the brakes. Honed out that wheel cylinder, looks much better then the other one. Used Rebuild kits from Erik's Surplus. at $4 a kit, its not bad, but does not match the pic on site, its the...

Starter or solenoid - Your opinion please

Solenoid, this is what pushes the gear into the flywheel, but you need to pull apart, it is possible that the lever broke or the gear is frozen(rusted) and the solenoid cannot overcome this force

    Parking Brake Rivets

Hi all, I ordered a set of brake linings for the parking Brake, I was unaware they did not come with rivets. Does anyone know the size of the rivet needed? I found that the rivet size needed for the regular shoes is 7-6(or a 3/16" x 3/8" rivet), but have been unable to source the size for the...

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

second coat of paint, that pics makes it look rather red, is more orange...but I guess that depends on how your computer perceives it. Paint is just a Red Oxide also honed the wheel cylinder, can't feel anything, but I can't seem to get rid of any of the coloring-it's smooth, can't feel any...

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

Thanks, I took a closer look, and if you look really close at my photo, you can barely make out the line where it contacted the bar So with my day job under full steam now, I have less and less time to this project. And I lost Half a day Sunday when I went to go get some parts for my M715 so...

    M35 A1 Transfer Case Question

Biggest one I know of is to not let it roll forward when in a reverse gear, and do not let it roll rearward when in any forward gear. if that does happen you must either shift the opposite way(I.E. if you rolled forward in reverse, shift to a forward gear, normally first) that will release the...

1952 M35 Gasser repair and build

picked up a couple Jerry cans today, one is pretty decent, little bit of rust internally, but should clean up quickly, came with a holder, strap, and screw on spout. Also got a second can, gonna use as tool box, cut it up. bottom was toast. Only paid $30 for the set, so not bad I think...
