That's what I'm thinking also. I would imagine a new 400hz generator on the commercial market would be a pretty penny. Anything you can add the word "aircraft" or "marine" and you can double/triple the price on it. Also, seeing as how a used 400hz on the civilian market would be scarce as hens...
Did you get the oil line with it?
There is also a Tee that goes into the t-case drain hole. I've taken PTOs off that had a check valve in that Tee and others that were just a standard pipe Tee. My PTO just has the standard Tee but I've got a check valve Tee that I've thought about swapping it...
That Indian Head is some great stuff. I use it on almost everything I don't plan on taking apart in the foreseeable future. It will seal up a gasket great but is a real pain sometimes to get the part separated after it's set up and real tough to remove after you get the part off, for that reason...
I've also heard of 27psi but I've never actually seen it. On all the trucks I've dealt with you'll max out the EGT far before you get boost pressures in the 20s.
You may can get by without moving the tanks but it is tight. I could have got by without moving the tank if I mounted the pump higher but wanted to pump below the hyd tank. While most pumps will work mounted above the hyd tank, they tend not to last as long and you have more cavitation problems.
Yes, most civilian tandem trucks have a way to disengage the middle axle when not needed.
The two main things that cost more than comparable civilian trucks is tires and fuel mileage. Other than that there is really no extra cost but tires and fuel are no small items.
Goodyear G177 tires...
I found a vid of him online talking about the plane and he stated he had sent the wings out to be rebuilt at that time. All I know for sure is they stated the wings weren't with the sale of the plane when we were there to load it. Evidently they somehow went missing from the time he sent them...
It's no problem getting a deuce hauled anywhere in the continental US. What may be a problem is getting it hauled for what the broker quoted you. What brokers do is quote a job cheap and then try and find a trucker that will haul it that cheap.
What kind of money are you trying to get it hauled...
Yes, that would be a good upgrade but 22.5 tires still aren't cheap.
The by far best option would be lockout hubs on the front tandem but as far as I know nobody makes them for the 5-tons (you can get them for a deuce).
Loaded you can feel the tandems trying to push the truck straight when...
You could be right but the side load of a u-joint driveshaft isn't going to be very much. Now a belt or chain drive would be a different story.
Go ahead a do what you need to do, I was just trying to help you simplify your driveline. I'd hate for you to just run a driveshaft and the pump fail...
Me too. You know, I have known about him for several years and wanted to meet him but I always thought he was some big business man that didn't want to be bothered. After talking to the people at his house I found out that he loved to meet new people and would let anybody come over and tour his...
I regularly haul 18 tons in my M939 lime truck. It is a converted M936 though so it has the heavier frame and suspension. It does great off-road with that weight but on-road hills can be painfully slow.
The tires tend to wear pretty bad also on-road with that kind of weight (due to the locked...
Most of the other stuff he had were still in the basement but wasn't on display so I didn't get any pics. I did find out there are many pics online through a search when it was still all set up.
The plane has a immaculate paint job on it but they said they were going to repaint it for a...
I noticed the pics wouldn't enlarge, I don't know what's up with that. I'm running a pump that is a Haldex but it looks just like the one in your link. I don't think you'll have a problem running a driveshaft directly to it (I haven't). Where are you getting the info? There's going to be very...
Well, as many of you know, I'm in the machinery moving business and thought I had moved just about everything until today. We loaded a P51 out of a basement in Nashville headed for a museum somewhere in Louisiana.
The plane belonged to a guy named Pony Maples who passed away earlier this year...
Look under the truck and see if there are two airpacks. If there are two it's almost certain it's a very late model truck. All of the late model trucks were USAF trucks also.
